Congratulations to Sheridan who has just received her 3rd BAFTA Award nomination for her incredible performance in The C Word for the BBC! I so hope she wins, she really does deserve it, that performance was just stunning to watch. And those who are wondering, the ceremony is on Sunday, May 8th... so no missing a show for Sheridan!

Have things been quiet on Sheri's Twitter lately?

Have things been quiet on Sheri's Twitter lately? She has changed her settings on twitter now... you have to be a confirmed follower to view her stuff now rather than just going on to see what she has said.

I'm surprised her manager didn't stop her tweeting sooner. I expect someone has intervened

She has not be tweeting as much lately. I dont use twitter so only know from on here that Sheridan likes to use it a lot. I think its probably a good thing that she hasnt been using it much recently as it gives her the chance to deal with the sad news about her father in private. Also she must be so busy at the moment with her filming up north for the BEEB and then straight back for Funny Girl in the West End. So looking forward to seeing the show again. Congratulations on the BAFTA nomination as well. It was a great drama. I have a feeling though that Suranne Jones might get it as Dr Foster got more exposure. I would hate to choose as both were brilliant performances. Was Happy Valley not nominated because it was broadcast after the cut off date?

She has not be tweeting as much lately. Was Happy Valley not nominated because it was broadcast after the cut off date? Yes, same with The Night Manager along with a personal favourite, Trapped, for best overseas programme. Overall a very strong set of nominations with (narurally) lots of people with theatrical connections. The only one I was disappointed by was Detectorists not being up for best comedy but Toby Jones was nominated so it wasn't totally overlooked.

Much as I liked SS and found her touching and truthful, I found myself trying to like the actual show more than I truly did. I thought they had done brilliantly with what for me is a thin, slightly dull book, and poor Darius had a dog of a solo number. I never really understood what made Fanny the great star she was as her, show numbers did not really hit the spot for me.
I found SS moving and charming, but still the l the show itself us flawed. SS acted the chops off it, or without a powerhouse Broadway style performance from the lead, I felt underwhelmed. Streisand's performance in the film showed her star power, but even the film bored me once Fanny was married. For me the second half never takes off and SS did brilliantly with a show that truthfully finished at the interval plot wise.

They haven't announced the full cast for the Savoy run yet have they? I think I read on here that not much is changing but I'm interested in having a look at it if it's been announced.

I hope Sheridan Smith has sorted out her personal demons that were plaguing her during the Menier run. Have heard reports of some very unprofessional behaviour, so hope she has recovered.

This thread has gone quiet as it opens at the Savoy tomorrow! Do I presume that all of us who are interested in this have already seen it at the Menier? The prices for this are staggering - huge swathes of the stalls at premium prices - £125 and the rest £71.50 for the rear stalls and it is virtually sold out for the intitial months! The producers must be making a fortune!
Sheridan Smiths twitter account has been unusally quiet too.

The Savoy has had a great year or so with Gypsy, Guys & Dolls and now Funny Girl and Dreamgirls... I kind of hope it continues reviving these kind of shows that are great as it seems to be the direction it is going in and the theatre is a beautiful theatre for it to be done.

Missed it at the menier so forked out for top price. Wary of Shwridan in the role but I've never seen it on stage so one to tick off the list
I too love this trend of the savoy being used for revivals. It's an ideal size and theatre for it

It's an ideal size and theatre for it And I love that they are not just doing any revivals... they are really doing 5 star productions of these musicals. The only thing is Dreamgirls will be the first of these to originate at the theatre rather than come from a different theatre, so that will be interesting to see! But I have no doubt it will be amazing.

I totally agree with you there! The Savoy is my favourite theatre because it is so beautiful and the shows they have there are amazing! i saw Gypsy and Guys & Dolls and we are seeing Funny Girl and Dreamgirls too so the shows they show there are really good!! I think it's one of ATG's most hottest and in demand theatres at the moment!
