Don't get me wrong, I am sure Natasha is great and satisfying all of her audiences. I know people who have seen her and said so also. I'm just actually quite shocked that the audiences haven't kicked up more of a fuss, assuming perhaps the majority booked on Sheridan's name. Obviously once they see Natasha they realise they have noting to complain about, but I'm surprised they aren't trying to demand refunds beforehand. Perhaps the word of mouth about Natasha has spread quicker than I thought. Well, maybe they have. I don't think we should take that blokes version of events as gospel. It's hardly good PR to say people are up in arms about us substituting the star for someone you've never heard of, no matter how good the replacement is, is it? Actually, it's surprising the amount of times I've been sat in a theatre for a show with a 'star' lead, and people around me haven't had a clue who was in the cast. Despite that actors name being splashed all over & sometimes even their face on the marquee. You can't help over hear them as they read their programmes 'Ooh it's that bloke from that show. ' And sometimes 'Oh I don't like her. Why did you book this?'  Maybe a lot of non-regular theatre goers just book for a reason for a night out, and don't really care about the cast? |

Is this the first Menier show that goes on tour? I'm really surprised that this is touring. It's such a non-definitive version of a show that isn't very good to begin with.
Sonia Friedman has to be one of the best producers in recent West End history with such excellent business sense. Her portfolio is so diversified, and this sh*tty little production is clearly profitable with or without a star and with or without negative press.

I think little shop toured and la cage was meant to and was on sale at venues but cancelled it

Saw the show last week. As a foreigner I don't know a lot about Sheridan and have never seen her on stage, but I saw Natasha in American Idiot so I specifically planned my visit to Savoy for June (not leaving it till my next visit in August). I left totally in love with Natasha! She is so powerful and it really felt like seeing "a new Imelda", as someone called her in the reviews. I have no idea if she is better than Sheridan in something or lacks her in anything (except publicity), but I really want her to get great new parts, a couple of awards and all the best she can get, as she deserves this so much! I cried standing right in front of her and seeing her crying... oh, and Darius is just gorgeous and his voice just turns me into a melting chocolate P.S. re dayseatting: i came at around 8:30 on Wednesday and was second. I guess it was until 9:30 there were only 2 of us, then around 10 people at 10 when they started selling tickets |

And I saw that the Phoenix Theatre's stage door had a huge crowd following Rebel Wilson, like the Duke of Yorks. I'm surprised the Saviy doesn't et like this, because I wouldn't go to stage door if it did

First nights always tend to be crazy, plus there's the fact that Rebel, Kit, Richard Madden and Lily James are in a completely different league of celebrity to Sheridan so they attract more people. They also have a generally younger fanbase which makes them draw bigger crowds at a stage door whereas Sheridan draws in an generally older audience as well as Funny Girl being a show which mainly appeals to older people I would say

Kit, Lily, Richard and Rebel, as a few examples, are international stars. Whilst Sheridan is only really known here in the UK. Depsite her onvious huge fan base here, the international stars are always a big draw stage door-wise.

I am very desperate to stage door for Funny Girl but if it's going to be like pushing to get to the front like a concert, then I won't be able to. That is what it's looked like at the other theatres. Have you staged door before for Funny Girl - is it bad? danieljohnson14 - have you staged doored for Funny Girl yet? Is it mental or quite civilised? |

I have stage-doored Funny Girl, the night I saw Sheridan and it was quite a civilised group. Everyone cheered when she came out but then waited quite patiently for her as she went round and chatted to everyone, gave hugs and took photos/signed programmes etc. I'd say there was about 40/50 people but it was quite nice and civil, and everyone was friendly etc. It was nothing like Kit the night I went.

I'm trying to do more stage dooring now for shows with stars I like and I'm starting with Funny Girl |

I'm trying to do more stage dooring now for shows with stars I like and I'm starting with Funny Girl Well my craziest experience was Louise and Gina's final show at Wicked, it was manic! I read somewhere the next day that there was around 500+ people waiting at stage door. The barriers went from the stage door right down past the main doors, it was crazy! So it won't be anything like that I wouldn't imagine.  |

Just do it for as many as you can! The more experience you get, the more you get used to speaking to actors as though they are just people rather than this special unattainable being and you'll get more comfortable just being around
