Talking of meeting your idols - one Sunday quite a few years ago I was eating outside a fish restaurant in the Lanes in Brighton with friends and two women stopped to look at the menu one being petite, blonde and wearing dark glasses. Having had one too many glasses of wine I said rather too loudly "that woman looks just like Petula Clark!" The woman in question raised her dark shades and said "I AM Petula Clark". I gushed something about her being FABULOUS in Sunset Boulevard which she was appearing at the time. She thanked me with a smile and moved off. I think I put her off eating at the restaurant!

Have to agree, I met Sheridan after seeing her in A Midsummer Night's Dream and she was absolutely lovely and seemed shocked when I said I'd loved Legally Blonde. Complete contrast to her co-star at the time...

Pfff
Dear ATG Customer, Thank you for booking to see Funny Girl at the Savoy Theatre. Natasha J Barnes has played the role of Fanny Brice in Funny Girl for the past few weeks at the Savoy Theatre, and her performance has received plaudits from audiences and critics alike, including 5 star reviews from the Times and Telegraph. “Barnes has a radiant charisma and twinkling mischief that’s irresistible. She’s a sensation in her own right” (Dominic Cavendish, The Telegraph), “Barnes is line-perfect, note-perfect, moves a treat. A sweetly powerful singer, what she gives us by the end, so vividly, is the quiet sorrow of an ordinary woman as the veneer gets chipped off her life.” (Dominic Maxwell, The Times). Writing in The Stage regarding Barnes’ performance as Fanny Brice, Mark Shenton stated that she was “like a quirky, young Imelda Staunton, burning with quiet intensity, heartbreakingly good acting and singing voice that reminded me of the great, late Judy Garland.” It is, and always has been, Sheridan’s and the producers’ intention that she will return to the role of Fanny Brice in Funny Girl at The Savoy Theatre. Sheridan’s recovery from stress and exhaustion is the absolute priority. She is doing really well and is incredibly keen to return as soon as possible. Following medical advice, her return to the production will be slightly later than originally anticipated - no later than week commencing 11th July. Natasha J Barnes, who has played Fanny Brice in recent weeks to great critical and public acclaim, will continue in the role until Sheridan's return. Sonia Friedman, David Babani and Scott Landis, Producers of Funny Girl Sheridan Smith’s leave of absence, means that Natasha J Barnes will be continuing in the role of Fanny Brice for a few more weeks. This casting change may therefore be in effect for the performance that you have booked for on SATURDAY 2nd JULY 2016. The Savoy Theatre team look forward to welcoming you to see Funny Girl and hope that you will enjoy the performance. If you have any concerns or feedback regarding the change in casting, please do contact our Customer Care team at (email and telephone number given).
So I called and changed it to August. And had a chat with the loveliest guy in the world!

Got the same - saw Sheridan twice at the Menier and am also booked for last night at the Savoy (which currently remains in the realms of 'who knows'), so will take this opportunity to see Natasha

It is interesting that the official email seems to reflect a change in the clearly stated definite 11th july mentioned in the press release the other day. Week commencing is a massive difference in my opinion.

My prediction is that w/c 11th July will come and go with no sign of Sheridan returning then in the following week we will finally get the announcement that she's not coming back.

I did type earlier in this thread that I've seen Natasha (at Menier Chocolate Factory on the last night there) and while I applaud her performance I WANNA SEE SHERIDAN AGAIN!
Great if you want to go for the show, go with my blessing. I want to see Sheridans Fanny and while they are offering alternative dates I'm going for it.

I'd do exactly the same if I hadn't seen her at the Menier

Would obviously prefer to see the show on a Saturday matinee but then again, I'm sure a weekday evening should be alright. There's no matinees!

Just re-read the official statement posted on the Funny Girl twitter account on 10th June, which states "... - no later than week commencing 11th July". So no backtracking just yet.
