Sheridan Smith @sheridansmith1 46 minutes ago Why torture myself by looking at the daily mail comments but 1,I don't want to do another a show &2 Theres no secrecy policy.I say the truth Just seen an article about her tweets to the producers saying effectively "see you in court" for 'pressuring' her to go on.. Good god. Her agent really needs to get her off Twitter. Surely Sheridan couldn't pull out of the Savoy run without having her ass sued ma-hoo-sively by the Menier and Sonia Friedman? She must have signed some kind of contract with them. Yes and she also indicated that there was no contract..... Sheridan tweeted "people think i've pulled out of Funny Girl. Not just yet. Back to finish the week. Then we'll see" She then included Sonia Friedman in a tweet that mention not having a contract and seeing them in court. Sounds like threats to me. Probably not the best way to handle things. Sheridan tweeted "people think i've pulled out of Funny Girl. Not just yet. Back to finish the week. Seriously, how is it possible to be performing in a west end production, let alone the star of it, and not be contracted? Didn't we have a discussion about this on the other forum in relation to an actor who has a reputation for pulling out of shows at the last minute? Is this really how producers run things because if it is then I'm staggered. Yes, she tweeted at the time while she was off the last week of the Menier run that she was under huge pressure from the producers to perform and that no contract had actually been signed! She quickly deleted the tweet I think. Is she? Say who? She wasn't even in a contract, tight or otherwise when it was at the MCF, and it was at the END of the run when that little titbit got thrown out to the masses on Twitter. Remember? It was when she was slagging of her producers... Of course she's in a contract, it's a job, therefore she has an employment contract. No organisation as big as a theatre production company is going to rely on an oral contract alone - I would have thought that was obvious. And any contract negotiated and drafted by any self-respecting lawyer will be tight, especially in circumstances where the production is being marketed on her name. Yep. We were surprised too.

It sounds like she made that up in an inflammatory state. I can guarantee that no West End producer/theatre owner in their right mind would let someone act on their stage without a contract. A contract covers not only fees/salary but health and safety, insurance, etc etc. And a contract works both ways - if it didn't exist, the producers could quite easily not pay her, pay her less than agreed, replace her with no notice, etc etc. If Sheridan didn't sign it or see it, her manager certainly did.

Throwing my hat in
In October I went off sick with stress and anxiety and you have to tell them when u think u will be back. (2-4weeks?) Then as that date arrieves and u feel u still can't go in then u give them another date when u may be better.
This continues until u either eventually come back or, in my case, they fire you.
Obviously I'm not staring in a big musical but I imagine it's the same sort of cabbage

Wouldn't it be illegal to work without a contract? How will a salary be transferred without a written agreement on terms and conditions?

There was another lengthy discussion on the old forum which came out of that TV programme about the woman putting on Happy Days where a "name" she hired dropped out, left her in the lurch and she had no comeback because there was no contract.
And there's the Kinky Boots actor who went through a period of dropping out of things at the last minute...
It all seems rather lax.

If Sheridan didn't sign it or see it, her manager certainly did. If that's the case then it speaks volumes that Sheridan didn't believe herself to be under contract, even though she was/is.

Who's the Kinky Boots one who drops out of things? It was Marcus Collins. I'm pretty sure it was just one show he dropped out of last minute because he got a better show (one he loves too) in Kinky Boots. Doesn't sound like he did it in a very ceremonious way, however. Not a secret really...

My bad, he also withdrew from a Hairspray tour half way through. That also ruffled feathers. Back to Funny Girl. Is she back yet?

Yes and was seen on holiday shortly pulling out due to 'illness'. That made michael ball come out with comments about young performers not being up to 8 shows per week

And that's just a repeat of what's been said in the last gazillion pages of this thread. Nobody knows when or even if she'll be back but an announcement will be made in due course so we'll all have to wait until then.

As the "four weeks" is now up, I think an official announcement must be made. I think they will announce something soon, or possibly email the people who are going soon. They owe people, such as you, who have counted out the days since they announced it and presumed that meant she would be on the stage the following night. I'm going in one week, so possibly they will contact us in some way. After hearing how brilliant Natasha is doing and that she can really sing the songs well, I'm hoping they stick with Natasha now.

Sorry to rain on your parade George but you don't seem to have got the message no matter how many times people tell you.
How about if I explain things in French? Elle ne reviendra pas.
Spanish? Que no va a volver.
German? Sie kommt nicht zurück.
Swahili? Yeye si kurudi tena.
In the form of a Monty Python sketch? 'No no she's not gone, she's, she's restin'! Remarkable bird, Miss Technical Difficulties, idn'it, ay? Beautiful Fanny!'
