Unsurprisingly house is full tonight. Also the back row of the Stalls is so much better than Row A or B of the upper circle! Very glad I made this choice. I expect from my seat they'll look more like mice rather than ants as from the horrendously high upper circle here This pleases me so to hear this. I've just upgraded our seats for Dreamgirls from the 2nd row of the upper, to row N of the stalls. Initially because of the inevitable 'lean forward' of the front row due to their restricted view of the rail. I'm very pleased to hear that I've made the right choice. Back to Funny Girl, on the same topic, there are still a considerable amount of tickets left for opening night for this in the UC.

When I saw Guys and Dolls from row B of the upper circle it was the first time I felt compelled to rent the plastic binoculars. You definitely made the right choice

Really enjoying it so far. I don't think Sheridan is the strongest singer, and does a sort of speak singing rather than power of Streisand. Her comic acting is excellent though, and she has brilliant natural charisma. She completely commands the stage when she's on in a way I haven't seen since Imelda.

You actually want a recording of her attempting to sing these songs? Count me out! At least she's self aware enough to know recording it would be a bad idea. That picture looks good.. Looks like they have transferred it properly! I would actually love it to be recorded. I bought the Streisand recording before Funny Girl started its run to remind me and I really dont like it. She was quite young when she did it on Broadway and her voice had not fully matured. I do remember as a teenager having the LP of the film and that was much better.

I wonder what the very back of the Upper circle is like. Thinking of trying to bock for either late July or mid September till end but haven't got much money for anything other than the cheapest seats.

Thinking of trying to bock for either late July or mid September till end but haven't got much money for anything other than the cheapest seats. i sat on the back row for Gypsy and the front row of the upper for guys and dolls and they're not terrible seats, the rake is good so a clear view, and for £15 theres very little to complain about, its quite far back but you do get to appreciate the bigger picture for the shows plus, sitting on the front row of the upper i could see the front row of the dress and the two seats either end of the dress were empty during act one so i decided to move down to them in the interval, there is a safety rail right infant of those seats but you are eye level with the stage so I'm thinking they might be seats that are never sold and are used if there a ticketing issue. if they are free i would recommend sitting on the left side rather than the right as the right side has a box if front of you

I think these are £25 for the cheapest. I should book soon before it sells out.

Two big new set pieces I think he said. Be interested to know what they've done

I sat in row A to see Gypsy and didn't have any problems other than they had a bit of stage just in front (which was only used for a few minutes). Not sure if that will still be there for Funny Girl. I've also sat in the Upper circle and it's not too bad. Check it out on Theatremonkeys page. I always do.

Yes there are some changes. A couple of the big production numbers have been padded out with extra dance routines including the pregnant wedding dress routine and a few minor changes. In Rat a tat tat Sheridan no longer goes along the front row of the audience understandably. Hoping to be there on Wednesday so will report back

I can imagine that the stage door is absolutely packed after a show?? Anybody know if Sheridan comes out after a matinee show?

Wow - Sheridan Smith really is a star, isn't she? Loved this - hadn't expected the comedy to be so bawdy but hey, it worked for me! :-)

Was at the opening night last night - what a wonderful show. I went in not knowing much about the show or the plot, and was quite surprised at a few elements of it, notably the fact that it's shorter than I expected and I felt it ended quite suddenly.
But Sheridan Smith in particular is just amazing in the role, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
And glad to hear there's a cast recording coming too.

Hurrah to the cast recording. Although how many Babs comparisons will this get?
SS really is a brave girl for taking this on

Loved this last night. Like badoerfan I didn't know what to expect but I thought Sheridan was fantastic. The atmosphere was electric.

Hurrah to the cast recording. Although how many Babs comparisons will this get? SS really is a brave girl for taking this on I'd say foolish. She can get away with it on stage because you're watching the whole performance with it which distracts somewhat from the so-so vocals and if you're impressed by SS then it probably sounds good but just hearing it is just going to emphasise that she just can't sing the score all that well. Particularly if it's a live recording. I suppose if it's a studio recording they'll be able to play around with auto-tuning and such.
