Oh no, I was totally overwhelmed! She sounded just as good, if not better, than Cilla herself! Her acting was amazing too. I've planned musicals all based on that! Did you see her in Mrs Biggs? She was amazing in that too, so so good as that character Are these musical revivals you think Sheridan is perfect for or have you written musicals specifically for her? A bit of both really! I am an aspiring theatrical producer and I've got loads of different plays and musicals in the pipeline that I'm hoping to produce when I'm older! Cast them, organised them and giving them ideal venues. Anyway sorry to go on! Yeah I haven't really written one for her but I think she'd be great in a new musical adaption!

I get the feeling people are trying to make her the next generations Judi Dench or Helen mirren but I just can't see it. Everything I've seen Sheridan in she has been a version of herself, especially on stage. Her TV work has been better. And these off stage dramas won't help, generally the greats have more class and are less about celebrity. Funny girl touring will probably help recoup some funds, not sure how financially successful this run will be. Although I'm also not sure how much of a draw funny girl the show will be on the road. Are you joking?! Most of the run from the Savoy is sold out or very limited seats, let alone the sold out Menier run too! I think it will most definitely recoup! I think she will be the next Judi Dench!

No, she is not the next JD. For starters JD and HM are both international stars. No one outside the UK knows who Sheridan Smith is.
Honestly, I find her so overrated. Saw her in Legally Blonde and thought she was barely adequate. Her phony American accent is worse than Ruthie Henshall, who is at least consistent in sounding like a southern belle regardless of the role she plays, and her singing was not thrilling at all. I've shared my views on her Fanny, who I think is grossly miscast.

It's a limited run anyway, so that alone may make it harder to recoup plus the backstage drama may have added costs that we wouldn't know about depending on contracts, salaries and legal consultations
She was so miscast in legally blonde (very far from a girl from the valley), but she does have a natural charm and charisma that can carry a show. But again, just a version of herself

Oh I thought she was bloody amazing in Legally Blonde! Her singing was great but the natural comedic talent that she brought along with the role was even better!! She could make me laugh from just the one liners she pulled! I'd pay so much money to see her in that again

A word of advice to all...
People are allowed favourites. People are allowed to disagree with those choices. But the bottom line is that this thing works best if we talk about the people on stage instead of eachother.

For me, it's got to be Imelda Staunton: Shakespeare, Sondheim, Oliviers, modest, professional, and just absolutely all-round brilliant in Gypsy. There's nobody like Imelda Staunton. Except Judi Dench lol.

When's Sheridan back? Is she back? WHERE IS SHERIDAN? Has Barnes slipped something in her Chardonnay?
Just wanted to induce a daily bit of SS hysteria there..

To be fair you do gush about her so much I feared you may be posting from a vantage point (bush) outside her flat. Is all this writing a ploy to stalk Sheridan from the inside George? Security!! What?! How am I a stalker for simplying having a favourite actress?

I often think that I can't offer my opinion on her stage acting as I haven't seen her on stage and then I remember that I have! In Hedda Gabler. And there were some comments about touring that I disagreed with above. 'Big' actors should (and sometimes do) tour. I don't love the idea that an aspiring producer is perhaps fine with the regions getting scrappy seconds.

I'm pretty sure she's not coming back. As far as I'm aware they're looking for others to fill the role, so that 2-4 weeks might get extended...

George I think it was a joke. We all have favourite actors who we like to see in different roles.
