Guys, you should be careful what you say. Because people have been sued for libel for saying far less online...

I'm surprised you aren't more careful about describing people as 'horrible', given your experiences. Some people are sceptical, some are unsympathetic, some are critical, but I think I missed any who said, "I hate Sheridan, she deserves really nasty things and I hope she's suffering a lot". Isn't it slightly arrogant to assume you have unique insight when it comes to having had bad things happen to you? Maybe some of us don't use such as crutches to our arguments? Edit: and I think quite a few people who didn't believe the "technical difficulties" story have acknowledged she could be genuinely ill at present (if true, let's hope she recovers soon) Well, the people I think are horrible are the people who think it's fine to make personal remarks about people on the internet because they should have a thick skin and just ignore it. So it shouldn't bother them. If it does bother them, maybe they'll reconsider their opinion. It it's arrogant to have empathy and compassion for someone who I don't know, and give them the benefit of the doubt, rather than be sceptical, critical, unsympathetic, and suggest they should give up their job, then I'll be guilty of that every time. I can't help it, it's the way I'm built. I'm also operating on decongestant, cough syrup and about 4 hours sleep a night at the moment, so high chance of me being a bit tired and emotional (literally, but also the cough syrup has alcohol in it) myself.

Why are people so precious over Smith? perhaps she's in the wrong profession If you think this is 'precious', you should check out the Sunset Boulevard thread. For some of us here family members with cancer and bullying are particularly sensitive topics. My experience of being bullied made me absolutely determined to speak up for other people when I see it happening to them. Not going to apologise for that. There are some really horrible people saying really disgusting things just in this thread, let alone on Twitter. Edit: And Baemax is right, she could very well have caught the same horrible virus that I've been battling for the last few weeks. It's been going around. I've been struggling along trying not to miss work but had to give up an take some time off because it just won't go. These things do tend to strike you when you're already feeling a bit low. By 'precious' I mean why do people always jump to her defence? I really don't need to be told about the effects of bullying nor do I need to be told about stress, I have experience of both. However, I certainly would not have behaved in the way Smith appears to behave (and I'm not just talking about FG). No one in their right minds would blame anyone for being ill and needing time off, but she is clearly not ill enough to keep off social media. Her agents need to have a word with her as from what I can recall of her over the years she lacks any sort of self regulation and needs someone to do it for her, perhaps taking a few weeks off or stepping down from the role is the way ahead. I also agree she must be having a terrible time over her father's illness but she's been like this before in the past.

I have to say that this whole Sheridan drama is way too entertaining. She's being a fool with her social media behavior. Having said that..She has the right to not attend if she is not able to perform. Plus, come on people. Her father is dying. I never liked her to begin with (so overrated in Legally Blonde) and thought she was horribly miscast and quite horrible in Funny Girl, but I completely empathize and can see why she's having a difficult time going to work.
What i do NOT understand is the damage control that is being mismanaged by her team and the producers. They really need to have a "we understand things are sh*t and want to give you space, but we need to talk about what you decide to do if you don't come to work."

Fluffy unicorns that have glitter for horns? I thought it was snorting coke in that first scene. Ahahaha... that was my first thought too! And I thought "well OK, slightly more cheerful than all the Sheridan drama but not expected".

Glanced at this thread, saw Burly's "snorting coke in the first scene" and thought, NOoooooooooo. Just read it properly, so as you were with the technical difficulties.

Somehow I can't see the cast recording coming now, in light of the drama.

The input and the media in general is because Sheridan has missed several shows, is testament to what a great actress she is.
However our friend in very fragile.
We still have a poor understanding, so therefore empathy for mental health issues. One in four of us will go down with poor mental health, because we cannot stick a plaster on it, doesn't mean it is NOT a real problem.

Here, Here!
Think of it like this... the amount of people on this forum, hundreds of us. For all you know, many of them have or do suffer from mental health issues. I, being open and honest, have and do suffer some mental health issues, and Theatre is actually a form of therapy for me. It helps me feel better when I have low moods or depression in particular. So when some comments are written with a clear misunderstanding about mental health, not only does it upset me, but I am sure it upsets many others online.
Controversial, but if it meant Sheridan has a healthier life and lifestyle, I would rather she not return to Funny Girl in order to get better. And that is not me willing her ill or to leave, that is me willing her to get better.

If Sheridan is truly suffering from mental health issues (something that I also have experience with personally) then the producers should tell her to leave the show. Has there been any definitive proof that she is though? Insecurity and sensitivity is not mental illness.

Money does interesting things to people... they sold the entire show on Sheridan, putting even more pressure on the poor girl. They would, most likely, want to do anything they can to keep her in and not have to refund all of those tickets or close the show early.

Absolutely, but if things get much worse with Sheridan missing shows, people are going to be ringing up wanting to return their tickets or get refunds. It's all bad publicity for the show. I would imagine anyone that hasn't seen the show yet and has bought tickets specifically to see Sheridan is feeling nervous at the moment.

Will Sheridan last until October? I hope so. I hope she lasts past May unlike insiders say. I think if she has this week off then it's a good reboots and then return Saturday or Monday. Hope she doesn't quit. It should all blow over in the next few weeks anyway.

Screw the insiders love, when The Sun say "insiders" it usually means someone in the Office couldn't get a statement so makes some crap up. Whether it is the case or not this time is yet to be seen, but I wouldn't worry about it too much yet

Katie Hopkins is definitely right with her latest article on Daily Mail about how Graham Norton was out of order for saying that at the BAFTAs, that probably really put her down
