I hoped against hope it would be running the same time as Sarah Brightman’s “Sunset”, so I could see it again.

It has been listed on MTI for a few years now but I think it might just be available for the USA. I can’t see them scrapping a London or UK return just yet especially after the success of last year’s Old Vic revival and the Melbourne production that’s just opened.

The MTI page has it listed as Restricted in the UK/Ireland, Australia/New Zealand, and South Korea. Not sure why it took so long for it to become unrestricted in the US, although there have been a few regional productions that must have received special permission. I also wonder if the 2017 Broadway or 2023 Old Vic script/orchestrations will both be available. There are aspects I prefer about each.

With the Olivier award nomination for Best Musical Revival, now would be a good time for the Old Vic to tell us that Groundhog Day is returning for a limited season or a west-end transfer...

Oliviers next week with a "special moment from GHD Australia" in the schedule.
Might this be a special weather forecast by Phil Connors telling us soon there will be sun in London...?

I imagine it'll just be a video of him going 'great to get to do it again, we had a great time, here's Eve singing Playing Nancy' or something

I doubt they'll be asking Summer Strallen, given her recent tweet.

I doubt they'll be asking Summer Strallen, given her recent tweet. She's coming off more and more bitter on social media these days. Even if it's true, why now? She isn't event talking about the most recent production. It seems far more about her rather than the people involved. Seems more for attention and to be 'controversial' now the roles seem to have dried up.

Interesting tweet from her… I’d be very disappointed if this was true, given the creatives involved.

Folks seem to enjoy being down on the Old Vic don’t they? Are we talking about the Spacey days or continuing onwards? Why so toxic?

She's very specific to the original run of Groundhog Day and the experience of friends who were in it. I tend to believe my friends, but also know that I wasn't with them to know exactly what went on in a situation; and I also know their hang-ups, campaigns, and sore points that may have coloured their reporting of something (even if I still generally believe them). The problem with her scattershot tweet is it could point to fellow cast, or creatives, or theatre management, producers, or anyone else, being the source of the problem. That's a lot of unfocused shade to cast in public.

It's all fourth hand info by the time it reaches us anyway. How can we ever truly know what did/didn't go down unless we were there!?

Doesn't sound like it from what I can see on Twitter, just a promo clip… (or maybe we’ll find out shortly on the ITV highlights!)

Doesn't sound like it from what I can see on Twitter, just a promo clip… (or maybe we’ll find out shortly on the ITV highlights!) I watched it live. The biggest anti-climax - literally just a trailer of the show that was released last year. No commentary. Nothing. Was the weirdest thing. Perhaps they thought they might have more to say - to be frank, it was a waste of time and should have been cut.

Anyone got any goss on the rumour that GHD is headed into the Gielgud??? Was that my rumour? I suggested one of the "Days" (GHD / JFOD) might fill it briefly, but this was shot down quickly. Never say never, say I... perhaps Drury Lane might take Oliver after Chichester?

She’s blown the whistle on the treatment of the original GHD cast during their first run, which was, tbh, pretty appalling by all accounts. I think the second cast had an easier ride, thank goodness. Not that that makes it better.

I think the second cast had an easier ride, thank goodness. Not that that makes it better. Not suprising as the infamous and now disgraced Broadway producer Scott Rudin was involved in that first production. He is blamed for the show being rushed to Broadway (where it bombed) while many of the creatives didn't feel it was ready and wanted to do further work on it first. If memory serves, Tim Minchin mentioned this is an interview. In any event, her post is flogging a dead horse as Rudin has been long detached from the production. After demanding a Broadway transfer, he abandoned it just before GHD started Broadway previews after a huge fallout with Matthew Warchus (the director) on the changes they would/would not make to the show. Rudin eventually pulled back from producing altogether following several widely printed stories from former staffers calling him out for his allegedly abusive behaviour.
