... sidenote, definitely not what we are all thinking, and pretty sure a lot of us don't think some of the things he or she says (I don't want to say he as the username may not reflect a gender).
That said, sometimes Parsley's posts are entertaining. But definitely not views we all share.
Point taken... Not all. But many! I wouldn't even say that many m'love, if many felt like them then this board probably would be a straight up hate board.

Ps Parsley, can I just ask (to save me trawling through your posts) what do you actually like (specifically)? Just so I can get a lie of the land. Sent with kindness and trying not to just write you off. Thanks. AMAZING The Crucible (Old Vic revival) and Les Blancs (Yael Farber) After The Dance (NT) Most of Katie Mitchell (Iphegenia Waves Trace of Her) Eclipsed (Gate) Wild Duck all Ninagawa and in fact most of the stuff at Barbican in main house and pit Romeo and Juliet Macbeth (Rupert Goold) Hedda Gabler Ruined Judas Iscariot (Almeida) King Lear Othello (Donnar) Ivanov (Donmar West End) Bend It Like Beckham Gypsy (recent CFT) The Nether Unreachable The Seagull Clybourne Park (Royal Court) Hairspray (original WE) Caroline or change (NT) Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk Hoffman Tales Der Rosenkavalier (old production) (ROH) Punk Rock (lyric staging) So much at the royal court and almeida These are random examples I thought of in 3 mins

I know I wasn't the only one who had Parsley on ignore at the old place. Haven't resorted to it yet here.
Edit: How many shows do you see a year, Parsley? Do you keep track?

Saw this Thursday and loved it so much we got day seats for the matinee (sat right next to Ben Whishaw and Andrew Scott). There isn't a dud song in it. The cast are excellent - I thought Rita's voice had character. What was Scott Rudin thinking? Transfer and cast recording please. Best new musical in ages and one of the best things I've seen! I'll likely post more thoughts tomorrow. And two very full houses.

I'm sorry to be rude, but it really does baffle me. I mean, obviously it was made clear on the old board that you had put money into it etc, but to have it on the same level as Gypsy? Really?
And this coming from someone who thought Bend It was OK on second viewing, but still not exactly great.

For one secind I thought that 'Hedda Gabler Ruined Judas Iscariot' was an avant garde Ibsen production that had somehow passed me by.

If you don't like it And need to cope with life by blocking people Then perhaps YOU are in the wrong place? Likely you also think if you turn off the TV terrorism goes away as well And that shopping at primark is good value 😂😂😂😂

A personal plea to *please* leave this particular conversation here, now. I love this musical and I check this particular thread regularly and intend to join in further once I've seen the show (at least) once more, it would be great to not have this thread derailed in conversation that is not even tenuously linked to the thread, like so many have gone before it. Thanks all!

I love the show too and hope to return in the near future before it leaves London for hopefully Broadway and/or a more permanent home in the West End!

Thanks all! Yes I agree I didn't like the show As it didn't engage me emotionally or musically or visually I was also disappointed by a lack of proper choreography And I should be able to express this reasonable view without having to further justify myself or be attacked personally I appreciate others like it and respect that but it is not an assumption we all loved it! Thanks

I love the show too and hope to return in the near future before it leaves London for hopefully Broadway and/or a more permanent home in the West End! Absolutely no apologies needed at all!!! Just wanted to get in there quick before these sort of things get out of hand! As it happens, I was so looking forward to hearing what you thought of the show, as I'm taking an educated guess that we are not that distant age-wise and I was really interested to hear what a peer thought of the show and I was completely over the moon to hear that you had enjoyed it as much as you did! As I've said previously on this thread, I was completely blown away by this and agree that it's one of the best new musicals in recent years. Found a couple of dates with some great £30 seats dotted around, even on the front row, so my return will be imminent! Want to wait until after PN though, as I've already seen a preview. In total agreement that a permanent home in the West End follows, along with a cast recording!

Ahaha well if we are around the same age, I was very much almost taken aback by just how much I loved it! I will no doubt return before it leaves London, and will be looking into another opportunity for £30 seats but even then, it is worth even more than that and I would happily pay more too. It was a fantastic show and a great surprise for me to enjoy it so much, especially considering I had never seen the film or anything, and knew nothing of what was going to happen.

Thanks Of course. Am sad to hear you didn't enjoy it! Are you familiar with the film? I've never seen it so had no idea what to expect other than knowledge of the premise, but I'm sure I will get a chance to see it soon. As for choreography, that's an interesting point. It felt very Peter Darling to me. He makes routines out of the most pedestrian of movements so the ensemble are 'dancing' without you even realising it. Other than the whole-cast tap number, I can't really see where a traditional musical theatre routine would've suited this intricate piece. Do you think it would benefit from being a more traditional song-and-dance musical or do you think the subject need not have been translated for the stage in the first place?

daniel brought up the point of the Peter Darling choreography, particularly the likes of the Doctor number that it is very Matilda influenced in its choreographic choices. Something that clearly works as evidenced in both shows successes!

Haha well I am 21, so whether that it close to you or not I've no idea, I just feel it may be - no need to post your age if you don't want!! haha. I felt exactly the same, I really didn't not anticipate to completely love it as much as I did. I've also never seen the film so had no prior knowledge of any plot other than knowing that he re-lived the same day over and over again, an idea that I was fascinated to see translate onto the stage. As it happens, my Mum surprised me by ordering the film online after hearing me gush about it so much, so will now get the chance to see it!

I was just explaining for the newbie - one of the reasons you don't like many shows is that you see so many more than most of us, whether you think you'll like them or not. Most people only book tckets for stuff they think they'll like. And one of the reasons you like certain shows is that you've invested in them! I'll shut up now, so we can get back on topic.

I saw this last week and loved it!
Andy Karl WILL win the Olivier..
Not very impressed with the score but it's a witty and really quite moving evening at the theatre. Some wonderful staging and choreography, it's a big crowd pleasing hit. I predict the reviews will be raves.

The reviews will be the judge with this one, and I suspect they will be great! A couple of New York critic's are about in London around this time so seeing this and giving it a good review could make all the difference!

Given the lack of theatres available and the fact it's going to Broadway. I doubt a West End transfer is on the cards
