I can't believe how many people are in each category for the awards!! They should be smaller I think These awards have never done well in terms of category placement or cutting them down. It is basically so everyone gets a look in. Example:
Philippa Stefani and Victoria Hamilton-Barritt both nominated for the same role, as is Natasha J. Barnes and Sheridan Smith.
Amy Ross nominated for Best Actress?!
Titanic nominated for both Revival and New Production?!
Almost the entire cast of In the Heights nominated... much as I love the show, really?!
These awards really are the anyone is nominated awards, but still fun to discuss who will/should win and its great to see West End and Off West-End talent nominated.

Wooooooooow... I actually love this! anf it is so true, it is ridiculous. Its the same with the Whatsonstage awards, its all about celebrity, who is the most popular and not who is the best in the role, who is the most talented etc. The other issues, especiallt with these understudy ones, there is no way to judge them as someone may never of been on whereas another person could of been on for two months like Natasha in Funny Girl. It isn't at all a fair comparison. Ridiculous really,

The other issues, especiallt with these understudy ones, there is no way to judge them as someone may never of been on whereas another person could of been on for two months like Natasha in Funny Girl. It isn't at all a fair comparison. Ridiculous really, Quite. I see Leo Miles is nominated in the best understudy category & he's not even been on for Raoul yet. Unless people are nominating him for covering Passarino & M Reyer! Which seems highly unlikely. I would say it's a pretty certain bet that when I saw him on as Reyer the other week I was the only member of the audience who a) noticed & b) cared. I can't understand why musicals have Best New Production & Best Revival categories, as it means some shows such as Funny Girl & Show Boat appear in both categories. Surely it should be Best New Musical rather than new production. The Outstanding Achievement in a New Opera Production category is a farce: the ROH's Cones D'Hoffmann is nominated & the production is 36 years old! Likewise, it seems odd that Peter Pan Goes Wrong is nominated for Best New Play when it's on its 4th run & it puts it in direct competition with the genuinely new The Comedy About A Bank Robbery. My biggest voting dilemmas were in those categories where multiple TCAABR cast members have been nominated. I was so torn by the understudies that I had to do it by numbers & just go for the one I had seen the most. Why the hell is Henry Shields nominated under supporting rather than lead? If I had to pick the most important character out of what is a definite ensemble piece then I would go for Mitch as the key protaganist. Totally baffled by that one.

This seems like a very odd award . I feel like they just put everything that was on in London with all the leads nominated . Some of the ones that have struck me are lee mead and Carrie hope fletcher being best actor and actress in a musical for chitty as well as it being nominated for revival.I never saw it but a feel like other people on the other categories probably deserve it more and they are far in the lead. As much as I like Carrie I feel like she probably does not deserve the nominations for les mis or chitty and if she does I think she should not be in the lead. It is just a popularity contest and not on talent really.1984 has been nominated for revival . Lost of the nominations are for things that I have not really heard of either. My brain is very WTF by it

I have cast my votes for the vast majority of categories but must agree I found the nominee lists for each category overwhelming. It's almost like every current or most recent actor/actress that has been in a show has been nominated for an award. Bit excessive I must say and feel the nominee lists for each category should be narrowed down further.
I must also agree with the award being unfair by almost being a competition of who is more popular and has more fans rather than the general public voting purely for who is genuinely talented in the role and deserves the recognition.
Had to laugh at Ramin's video! It's very true.

I didn't realise when I voted that basically it would end up as a nomination for that catagory. I'm GUTTED I didn't put Danny Whitehead 'Understudy' one he's a swing of 11 tracks in Les Mis but doesn't cover a main role unlike the other two swings. If I'd have known that I would have put him down. He is the only Les Mis male ensemble member not nominated. I put Oli Brenin & Vinny Coyle they are on the list. BUT then someone else could have done it but didn't so...

A lot of stuff listed but couldn't see anything from the Royal Court nominated? Would have gone for Stephen Rea in Cyprus Avenue above any of the other actors listed.

Possibly, if I see something that I thought worthy of recognition that hadn't been mentioned elsewhere.
