Some thoughts: - They really like celebrities, don't they? Did Kenneth Branagh, Ralph Fiennes and Dominc Cooper really deserve a nod?
- Michael Xavier for best performance in a musical? Really?? I know he doesn't have a chance to win, but still... I thought he was the quintessence of averageness in Sunset Boulevard
- YEAH JENNA RUSSELL!
- Very glad they remembered The Flick in the new play category
- I'm so happy for Jaygann Ayeh and Anthony Boyle for their nominations in the emerging talents category

It's all about O-T Fagbenle and Gemma Arterton for me. That Best Actress list in particular is one of the dullest lists around.
And seriously, I know people loved her but if Sheridan Smith wins against that group of musical actors, there really is no God.

It bothers me that Funny Girl and Guys and Dolls were nominated for Best Musical production over Show Boat. Though glad Gina Beck and Rebecca Trehearn have been recognised.
Isn't this Award Ceremony hosted by the Standard's billionaire owner?

Wow, thats some Best Musical Performance catagory!  What a line up of talent! My initial thought was Glenn just because she is the most famous and the role is a deserving one. But then both the Show Boat women where phenomenal, Sheridan is stunning and Andy was brilliant! I think if Rebecca's role was a bit bigger, she would win this kind of catagory hands down, but because it is not, I give the edge to Sheridan or Andy personally. |

Calling it now, they're going to go for Ken, Glenn 'n' Bill.
At least I can get behind a Billie victory, and the infamy of Anthony Boyle's show should see him in with an excellent chance.

Wow, Glenn vs Sheridan vs Andy... I am so happy Andy has made that final list!  That being said, I think it is clearly going to be Glenn or Sheridan who wins if it is more fame than anything. But all were fantastic. |

Being an old cynic I believe the Standard will give the award to whoever confirms they will be there at the ceremony. You can't have a double page spread with pictures of absent people.

And how many performances are enough to be eligible? Can he be nominated for both/combined Platonov and Ivanov?

Actually, does it matter for the ES Awards? I know it's a 30 performance minimum for the Oliviers, but don't the Evening Standard just do what they want and the devil take your logic?
