Off to Birmingham Royal Ballet's 'Still Life at the Penguin Cafe' next week. Not a follower of ballet, by any means, but will gladly make an exception for the lovely, lovely music of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra.

Tomorrow, Sigur Ros at Hammersmith Apollo. Yes not a play but I'm still going into a theatre for a thing.
Now not going to A Close Encounter With Richard Dreyfuss at the Leicester Square Theatre on Sunday as it's been cancelled. Though I am slightly relieved to now not be seeing Mike Read, who was to have compered it, for some reason.

I am good at conversation.

I am good at conversation. I can certainly see that. The one time I used the "Are you..." opener on someone was King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp. I indeed said "Are you Robert Fripp?" and he looked wild-eyed at me, gasped "No!" and actually ran away, his legs a blur, dodging and weaving around people until he disappeared from sight. Did Read confirm he was himself? Was there any follow-up?

He did confess his identity and shake my hand.
Then, *for a joke*, I suggested he write a racist calypso song that glorified Nigel Farage, and that he should sing it in an offensively bad jamaican accent. I had no idea he would take my suggestion seriously.

On Sunday I shall be at the Park Theatre for 'Loot'. With Autumn coming, I hope no-one will disrupt the show by having a coffin fit.

Hang on, it's still THIS week! So I've already seen Oslo & (the first half of) The Magic Flute; today it's 2 lon sessions: Boudica, then The March On Russia. Didn't plan to see either but excellent reviews obliged me to shoehorn them in.

That's actually last week now. In the current week I am going to see Jane Eyre at the NT (somewhat shame-faced, as I returned my ticket for its previous stay there as it sounded dire but from reviews of the tour, either it has improved/been tweaked, or I was wrong, or both), followed by What Shadows at the Park, plus the return of Thebes Land to the Arcola. To be followed by one other play, yet to be chosen from a list of strong contenders, all due to finish that day.

This weekend: The Ferryman and Girl from the North Country on Saturday, then on Sunday a staged reading at Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. And then, back to the airport only to return two weeks later! I'm getting too old for this.

Gypsy Queen @ Hope Mill Theatre, Manchester tonight. Must check this Theatre out . What are the seating arrangementslike? Proscenium , in the round ? It is a flexible space I have seen proscenium and studio style. Pippin was apparently a thrust. So you pays you producer's money and you takes your choice! Gypsy Queen is a good reason to visit!
