I'm finally off to see the legendary Audra McDonald in Lady Day. And for the first, and probably last time, I shall be sitting in a box. Hark at me! Well it was the same price as a 'regular' ticket, so it would have been rude not to. As always, I looked on burlytheatrebear.com before booking.
Before that, I'm off on a tour of Clarence House.
And as it was my birthday last week, there's a free milkshake waiting for me at Ed's Easy Diner. Vanilla malt, I think. (That's a reference to Bod, for people of a certain age.)
I some point, I also want to find time to hear Big Ben bong!

For once I've left all my theatre slots free for those tantalising deals I'm always offered when I'm unable to take them up. On my wish list are Adrian Mole, Late Company and Our Ladies - which I need to catch this week or not at all - and that still leaves room for one more...

Just got a ticket for today to see some show called Hamilton at the Hollywood Pantages. With a name like that, it will never catch on. Why would anyone, outwith the immediate locality, name a show after a town in south west Scotland?

On Saturday afternoon I shall be rubbing up 'Against' Ben Whishaw at the Almeida.
On Saturday evening I shall be heading to the Young Vic to see 'Yerma'. Why? I hear you ask. Because I want to. Because I want to.

Finally it's the week when I am going to somewhere else then home.
Arriving to London this Thursday 24, revisiting Half a Sixpence matinee and desperately hoping to win Kinky Boots lottery for the evening (maybe someone here is going to dayseat on that day and able to get a second ticket?). The second choice option is American in Paris. On Friday I'm back to the Open Air Theatre's JCSS On Saturday @i'm flying to Dublin to catch Once's closing shows. Back on Sunday Afternoon, heading to Meier from the airport for Adrian Mole. Maybe will check The Odissey at the Scoop later.
Next week I'm also in London (and will be too busy to post, so here I go) Monday 28 - Jesus Christ again Tuesday 29 - planning to dayseat for smth (The Ferryman?) On Wednesday 30 I'm off to Brighton for a Wedding Singer double show day (because Jon Robyns) Thursday 31 - will get smth for the matinee (Evita/AiP/School of Rock) and return to the Jesus Christ for the final time Friday 1 - Follies Saturday 2 - Lady Day matinee (does anyone know where I could get some deals?) and polishing the eve with one more Kinky Boots visit.
I am practically not adding any new shows to my list this time, just because there are so many of my favourites one which I need to revisit. Well, August is for vacations, right?
P.S. Open to suggestion to meet for coffee/drinks and theatre chats! You have no idea how I miss these chats here in Moscow!

On Thursday we’re going back for a second look at Wicked. We decided this was the right show to take two young nieces for their first West End experience.
And it’s to show what fair minded lovely people we are who won’t come out as bored and angry as last time, in case we spoil it for them. After all it’s only 2.5 hours, right?

On Saturday: Hamlet (2nd time) and Jesus Christ Superstar (also 2nd time). On Sunday: staged reading at Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. My kind of theatre snobbery (seriously though, it's always great fun.) On Monday: well, I booked my ticket for Against some months ago but having read the reviews, I'm considering giving it a miss actually and seeing Apologia instead. Tuesday: Lear at the Globe and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Wednesday: Much Ado About Nothing at the Globe. And after the show, I'm going to the lovely Luton airport where I'm also expecting to see some very interesting, possibly dramatic scenes whilst waiting for my flight back home...

Looking like just the one play instead of the usual four, but good practice for my trip to the frozen north next week, when for 10 days I'll probably be deprived of both cinema and theatre. So tomorrow I'm seeing Late Company at Trafalgar Studios 2, now that it has transferred from the Finborough. (Second PN last night; 5 stars from Libby Purves.)
