I've been following Philip Quast ever since Sunday in the Park more years ago than I care to remember; if he has done his final musical performance here I will be sad but have so many happy memories ... then again if he comes back for another Follies run I will be there Remember South Pacific at the NT too.

He's played the Judge a few times in Sweeney, but I think it's CRIMINAL that we never got to hear him as Todd. Matched with someone of Julia McKenzie's ability, think how definite that would've been. Quast has won the Best Actor in a Musical Olivier three times - for The Fix, Sunday in the Park, and the NT South Pacific in which he was quite brilliant. I can't imagine the NT re-mounting Follies without his participation but who knows?

Where have these rumours of a rreturn come from, I'm so confused haha! I don't usually follow this thread that much. Is this a confirmed thing? I'd be willing to give this one a second chance, I wish I had rewatched it first time around as I couldn't tell you half the stuff that happened on that stage in hindsight.

He after being killed he spent a good portion of time under a sheet at the side of stage...and when he was finally able to subtly escape (as subtly as a man of his stature can) he got a bonus round of applause...

I don't know why, and I'd be glad to be proved wrong, but I have the feeling she won't come back

So happy about this! I’d be incredibly surprised if Imelda comes back for this - although I wouldn’t fall out with it if she did!

I would go again and it would be interesting with a different cast.

I loved the 'original' cast for this, but it would also be a brilliant opportunity for a brand new cast and take on this production and it would 100% get me back again! Wouldn't particularly feel any need to see it again with the same cast, as much as I absolutely adored it.

If they recast can we have Joanna Riding as Sally and Haydn Gwynne as Phyllis?

I’d really like to see Claire Moore as Sally, Joanna Riding as Carlotta, and Sophie Louise Dann as Phyllis.

Thinking about Anita Louise Combe would be a good Phyllis.

Imelda Staunton is on The Graham Norton Show on Friday night. Although unlikely, maybe she'll reveal some exclusive news.
(I wonder if she'll decline to have a drink with her on the couch?)

Oh smashing, if danieljohnson14's theory is correct, the show will open on Monday and close by Friday leaving the theatre free for something else to come in. One of those nice plays by Bill Kenwright with Martin Shaw and/or Jenny Seagrove or something like that.

I’d like to see Jo Riding as Phylis actually - I don’t know how suitable people think she is, but I think she’d be great. And I don’t want anyone as Carlotta about from Tracie Bennett.

Cast recording will be released later this year, apparently! Cooke added that a cast recording had taken place shortly after the production closed, which will be released later this year. “We did it straight after we finished. It was so was so nice to finish that way, to record what the actors did on stage – which was brilliant – and manage to recreate that in the studio.” www.thestage.co.uk/news/2018/follies-return-national-theatre-release-cast-recording/

Would be more interested in seeing a different cast (apart from Quast).
Love Joanna Riding, but she doesn’t have the voice for this.

If a revival opens with her in and flops, then she really is just a lost cause.
