Margaret Thatcher too, closed down the coal mines and so was in the vanguard of the fight against global warming - USA didn't catch up for decades until Obama started closing their mines. A good line on Thatcher (and Blair) is: "She was a terrible PM. Just terrible. It is amazing she was re-elected. Twice" |

Of course they were often in opposition but it's the friction between their ideas that is interesting, coming to similar conclusions on growth scepticism from different directions.

Yeah I voted for him once but we all did in '97. It was funny after eighteen years. Felt really funny voting at an election again this year |
