@cleoskryker ‘illusion of intimacy’ is such a great way to put it - I may have to steal that phrase. It explains so well why people get upset when celebs stop using social media (whch many do, once they reach a certain level of fame) - it shatters the illusion.

To be honest I didn’t even know CHF was famous apart from her theatre roles.
In terms of stage door, to be honest I think a lot of performers love meeting fans afterwards

In all honesty, most of Carrie's fans are fine. There are small groups within that just complain when she doesn't do the "meet and greet" that their ticket "entitles them to".

This episode (I think it's called 'All My Pets') was particularly good - like a beautiful short story - with a window to a whole new world. It traces the meteoric rise of a Youtuber and the demands on her to meet and interact with her public. |

will never go to a SD to meet Carrie , it was horrible at Les Mis
dozens of teens shoving you out of the way and then telling Carrie all their problems they got in their private life
as if thats interesting to her ...jesus

I saw Carrie at the SD of Les Mis (I was waiting for someone else). There were precisely two people waiting for her, so it wasn't chaos every day.

I once stage doored too when she was on Les Mis, but everyone (myself included) was fangirling for Rob Houchen, not her.

I only went to Les Mis a few times while Carrie was in it. And the only time there was quite a few people was when she was leaving.

Not really a drama, but one of the cringiest was Michael Ball at Sweeney todd at the Adelphi. A somewhat forgotten former West End leading lady was there as his guest, and as the small crowd gathered around, Michael loudly announced who this lady was and her credits, in an effort to get the fans to show her some attention.
Sadly, all those present either didn’t know or care about who she was, leaving her standing awkwardly to the side as Michael signed autographs.
Ouch. I bet she’d rather he hadn’t said anything.

When Ms Stubbs is working at a theatre in the provinces, the world-famous Crucible Theatre for example, she loves a big shop in the M & S food hall, followed by a taxi back to her digs.

Seriously, I was late to learning about Una Stubbs, I didn't see Wurzel Gummidge (sp? WTF?) or 'Til Death Us..' but now I've seen her in a number of things and I am in awe. She is ALWAYS good.
Weird revival of 'Family Reunion' at the Donmar - Fab!
Lovely warm character in 'Curious Incident' - nails it!
Mrs Hudson in Sherlock - Ace! (her line reading in the wedding episode when Sherlock is giving that interminable speech about who will be the next murder victim: 'I think you're on the top of a lot of people's list right now, Sherlock.')
