OK, after a bit of sleuthing: Neil Jones, husband of Katya, who is paired with Ed Balls. He's there to jump in should a male pro find himself indisposed (do the producers already know something we don't?), to participate in the group dances and to act as "Zoe's eyes and ears" as he'll be appearing on It Takes Two as a ballroom expert.
Seems a shame to hide him, so keep him right there on Claudia's right shoulder for the whole series. Please...

I thought that opening Cha Cha Cha to Venus was super cute.
I do love me some Chaaa Chaaa Chaaaaaaa daaaaaahling!
It all looked fabulous as usual, no expense spared.. This is why we have a license fee, top notch quality programming, no sponsorship and no ads every ten minutes.

Strictly is the reason I think the BBC needs to get its hands on The Olivier Awards. Strictly's musical week is more like our equivalent to the Tony Awards, not the Olivier's! Get it on BBC One, make it with the amazing production values of Strictly but with Musical Theatre and awards.....bingo!!

Get it on BBC One, make it with the amazing production values of Strictly but with Musical Theatre and awards.....bingo!! Mel and Sue to present! Mary Berry as the voice over, with the Olivier Awards made out of cake! (Much like Lee Evans when he presented an Olivier a few years ago, and proceeded the eat the award in his had that he was about to give out!) |

So, everyone knows that i was out last night at The Theatre Cafe at The Theatre Quiz where we won (just thought I'd subtly drop that in there) so was forced to watch last nights Strictly Come Dancing on catch up today.
Now I appreciate it was their firostdance and there are nerves etc. but for me the three stand outs were the guys; Judge Rinder, Ore Oduba and Greg Rutherford. Three different guys, three different personalities, three different approaches to three different dances.
Lets see what tonight delivers.

There are some really high scores being awarded even though it's the first show. Some of them have high expectations to live up to for the rest of the series already!

Gosh Danny Mac is incredible. Unsurprising given his musical theatre background but still. Yes....trained at ArtsEd with 4 years in Wicked is hardly a fair comparison with those such as Judge Rinder, Greg Rutherford etc.....and those to come including Ed Balls! But I guess every year they have someone on who has some sort of dance background. Whether they've put their training to use as much and as recently as Danny Mac has is another discussion. Even Louise Redknapp trained at Italia Conti. Still, a great routine and he performed it fantastically and definitely look forward to watching him dance every week......but it's still a little tough on the rest with no experience what-so-ever! |

I've seen tweets on the lines of "If I didn't know he was from Hollyoaks, I'd have thought he was a trained dancer". Obviously people are naive about career paths but I fear a backlash when people realise how much he's done.

Digital Spy does - advisable not to go anywhere near it after about 10PM on a Saturday night if you don't want to know who goes. Loved Danny, Louise, Judge and Greg. Disappointed with Claudia - choreography a bit all over the place but think she'll be great further down the line. Honestly didn't see what the judges saw in Daisy's waltz or Ore's horrid tango (I was too distracted by the radio-active trousers!) Claudia Winkle's present to AJ  The class of 2016 are truly amazing! |

You wouldn't be the first to pinch 'info' from Digital Spy.... Daily *cough* Mirror! Trouble is, although people are pretty good at only mentioning by name who has gone on the actual spoiler thread, they leave massive hints on the other threads which anyone with 3 brain cells could decipher whilst doing a killer sudoko with the other side of their brain - hence the warning to avoid - but you'll know that already! I HATE knowing who's gone before watching the show! Completely ruins playing the "please, please fall over" game during the dance-off! |
