How did Ashley get 40 for an American Smooth that contained about half a dozen (badly danced) steps of actual ballroom? I counted maybe 3 Foxtrot steps and her technique in them was awful. I thought the whole thing was really ugly.
The standard this year really is atrocious.

Charleston - traditional, some clunky dismounts but quite entertaining. VW - very touching - undermarked Paso - it really wasn't a paso. No Spanish flair, no real basic content. Very ugly hair Terrible make up too. They’ve been very heavy handed with the blusher tonight. |

Really enjoyed Faye for once and thought Joe was much improved in his first dance.
Appreciated the dances that had suitable music tonight and the nice ballroom dresses.
The overmarking of Ashley felt a bit desperate.

Well I think Ashley is beautiful and that she danced the Dirty Dancing routine beautifullly. No idea about the technicalities but it worked for me. Stacey looks very lukewarm by comparison.

First dances
Ashley - It was far from a clean dance. There was clunky armwork, clunky footwork and the dance was all about a lift and not the actual content of the dance
Stacey - That was pedestrian. Lacking in real crispness, too much faff to start with and it really went nowhere
Faye - That was special. Proper dance content, proper story telling. I wasn't tempted to look away
Joe - Better than first time - but not the best showcase for him.
Faye wins round 1

Show dances
Ashley - that is exactly what I expected from her. So much of her previous burlesque style and so little ballroom or latin content. Revolve was a gimmick too much. It wasn't engaging to watch.
Stacey - too much faffing - again. Running round and posing is not dance. And the jive footwork was not up to scratch
Faye - Slow to start - but what a build. It was a proper dance. Packed with steps. Gave me shivers. It was her calling card for leading roles on stage
Joe - He was loving that. A real achievement for a complete novice. Lots of content. Real passion.
Faye wins round 2 and Joe was my second place.

I think it’s quite close to call so far. In my opinion I’d be happy for any of the ladies to win, please don’t let Joe win as although yes he has improved a lot he isn’t the best dancer. Stacey’s showdance was very crowd pleasing (helped by the music), Ashley’s showdance did showcase her style and love of dance, Faye’s was very musical theatre. She’s been in many shows over the years so do feel it’s a bit unfair that isn’t mentioned as much as Ashley’s dance experience (they weren’t doing the waltz or foxtrot in the Pussycat Dolls!).

I would really love Stacey and Kevin to win. I know she may not be the best technically but she has developed a lot since the beginning, is always enthusiastic and I love her partnership with Kevin. He always seems very supportive of his dance partners and I think it’s about time he gets to lift the glitterball with his celeb partner!

Ashley - I just don't like this choreography. Too much dancing with books in hand - keeping contact at a minimum. It is fun but not what I want from this dance. Danced well - but not enough for me
Stacey - Really didn't rate this choreography first time round. And it hasn't improved. Don't like at all. Especially the silly grin at the end.
Faye - Has she gone too theatrical with her choices? I still like this routine. Great attitude and character throughout.
Joe - fun, relatively traditional and danced better than first time round
Faye wins again because it is the best choreo/dance combination
Faye should win - but who knows!
