As it's coming up to musicals week it got me thinking when I'm a mega celeb (so like never!) and I get to go in strictly I'd love to do dances to show tunes every week. When listening to musical albums I do sometimes imagine what dance it would suit best. I have a list for a few dances and songs but not all.

I received an email today. It seems that Ed, Ore and Lesley are the latest celebrities to join the tour.

It always gets so boring by this stage...suddenly, just when you are into it all, there is no-one much left! Liked Danny and Claudia tonight...the rest were quite meh.....getting bored with Judge Rinder...we know you love to dance but somehow it's lost the novelty value and what was quite sweet now feels like a line....

Good summary. I enjoyed the closing routine too but the opening had me cringing.

Disappointing night I think. Only one I feel like rewatching a couple of times is Claudia's, but even hers wasn't one of her best. Glad she got her 10 though, even though it should have been given weeks ago. Wish they started doing two dances each this week instead of next week. The opening was cringey but enjoyed the West Side Story routine. Nice to see there were no major undermarkings or overmarkings for once. Song choices completely uninspired although seeing as for the most part they seemed to pick whatever is currently playing in the West End, that probably has more to say for the uninspired state of musical theatre on the West End than it does anything else.
1. Claudia & AJ 2. Danny & Oti 3. Louise & Kevin 4. Ore & Joanne 5. Judge Rinder & Oksana

Loved it! Loved it!
Completely different looks and routines.
I lovd to opening number and how it incorporated the celebrities, professional dances and judges- though Craig's grin as tiresome!
Loved Ore & Joannes however thought the 'flowers' at the back were really not necessary.
Luise & Kevin- extremely good and thought it really captured the wild west feel.
Judge Rinder & Oxana- he's clearly loving it but for me, he was the weakest one tonight.
Claudia & AJ- (Finally) a 10! About bloody time! I liked the whole Lion cub thing.
Danny & Oti- Pure class!
The West Side Story themed finale- when that famous music played where Tony & Maria first met played, goosebumps. Literally! West Side Story was the first musical I ever fell in love with.

Worst week by miles. When are they going to stop dressing Claudia and AJ like 10 year olds? He needs to be replaced next year. I thought he was going to drop her. Blue is not Oti's colour. I love Jo and Ore but that was dull as ditchwater. Brendan's Joseph interpretation.....I have no words....it was only not the worst thing tonight because someone decided to let Anton sing. Hated the backing dancers, they got in the way. Liked Westside story, but the costume colours were too similar to differentiate between the gangs. Claudia W's 'joke' was not even panto-worthy. Scores were a joke.

I'm with you, T, but we might be in the minority. So many adult roles Claudia could have taken and they dress her like a kid going to dress up party. And put Louise in a brown dress. Brown! Don't they watch the tv programme back for critique? and utterly odd choice of musicals I thought. Hoping for better next week.

Dreadful. Worst week of the series. BORING OR WHAT!
CRH giving nines out to "the chosen" just backs up what a complete fix this is.

And all those musicals to choose from and they feature Jersey Boys. Are you kidding me?

I'd forgotten that as I was still trying to bleach out the dreadful scene at the riding stables or wherever they were supposed to be. And Oti must be one of the most beautiful women in the world, but that colour on her was so wrong. She needed more of a deep purply blue in my opinion. And yes, so many musicals, so much dross.

Ugh backing dancers, so unnecessary. Only Oti really managed to make her choreography work around them. Ugh to the claims of "fix" too, they are, as always unsubstantiated and pointless.
I loved the West Side Story routine but that was about it for me - all the celebs' dances fell flat due to completely unsuitable music/dull musical/terrible costumes/awful backing dancers or a combination of all of those. Only Danny and Claudia were remotely exciting and both of them had technical flaws - nothing deserved a 10 tonight in my opinion, which says it all about the quality given it's the quarter final...
Here's hoping next week is a lot better...

I agree with so much of what the above posters have said.
Generally a poor episode I thought despite the musicals theme which I was looking forward to. Again, like Blackpool, I found the inclusion of the extra pro dancers on the floor, takes away the focus from the contestants. Clearly they are under contract and have to be paid so they have to be found something to do but they should stick to the opening sequence.
The opening sequence I thought was a shambles and whoever thought Anton could lead it ought to be shot. Then if Anton singing wasn't enough we had Brendan "singing" the terms and conditions of the phone vote. Dreadful! They obviously have to broadcast these, but frankly they should just do them straight and quickly and get them over with.
As for the actual dances...
I predicted the bottom two correctly last week with Ed going and this week I predict Claudia and Robert Rinder. I thought Claudia and AJ were going to do something from Cats rather than the Lion King with those costumes. She was made to look like a young Bonnie Langford in that wig - not a good look. I thought the lifts were dreadful and looked dangerous. AJ cannot be the strongest of guys and I don't blame her not trusting him when an error and drop to the floor could mean the end of her gymnastic career - just for an entertainment show. Did he nearly drop her at the end?
As for Rinder I feel he has plateaued and the line of "I just love dancing", no doubt genuine sounds very false now as he says exactly the same every week like a broken record.
I thought Ore and Louise were bland but probably did enough to get through and of course Danny was by far the best again.
The end "West Side Story" sequence was fabulous though!

Just to clarify, I haven't checked the spoiler this week.
I actually think Danny and Claudia are the only ones safe from the dance off this week. Danny because I don't think he has ever been or will ever be in danger and Claudia has the most views and likes on YouTube this week. I think her popularity is underestimated.
I'm gonna guess Ore and Judge Rinder though. Ore reminds me of Georgia in the musicals quarter-final last year. Both first on, both foxtrot, both songs from children's movie, both obscured by backing dancers, both scored 36, both bottom two? Rinder will obviously go though.

I haven't looked at the spoiler...part of the fun of watching the results is you don't know the outcome. I would predict Rinder goes. Like Ed last week, enjoyable as he has been to watch - enough is enough.

I'd love to see Danny Mac and his fiancée Carley both star in a musical together after Strictly ends!! They're both good stage performers.
Link and Amber from Hairspray would be great!!

Way too old for Link... c'mon. He looks about 40. Do you think?? For a 28 year old, I think he'd get away with playing Link and Carley would 100% get away with Amber - I'd love to see her play that role, she'd own it!!
