the amount of comments I've seen on social media about this means CML/RUG would have to be really deaf to their audience if they insist on using the tour effect... I suspect they actually just have a bit more perspective on how many people moan on social media compared to the number of people who buy tickets (and also realise that the moaners deem to largely buy tickets anyway!)...

I'm sure they'll also respond if that reaction reflects in poor sales in the coming 12/18 months.

ceebee I trust when you see the new production, you aren't going to rave about it just to spite us mean, negative naysayers? I doubt I'll rave and I think there will be bits of the old version that I will miss. I dearly hope my confidence isnt misplaced in the fact they've ripped out an already excellent sound set-up for so.ething presumably better... And that wretched chandelier... I'm quite nervous about it tbh and would be grateful for a solid middle-of-the-road naysayer pacifying "3".

Dare we have a poll for the reopening? 😳
Perhaps not 🤔

New London cast photo. They've given Lucy a wig more appropriate for her hair type which is nice. Costumes seem to be a mix of the new UK Tour and the original production. Is that jacket a size too big? Those cuffs...

Will just be ‘Phantom’ this rime next year. If it’s still on.

All their social media and the official website still have the full title uk.thephantomoftheopera.com/#_ga=2.56116651.1485841773.1625206310-1384311813.1625206310

That 'notion' came from Baz who tweeted the new poster a few days ago, I haven't made it up lol
I've seen it as just phantom here but can't recall seeing it as phantom of the opera with no 'the'. In new york yes but I don't remember seeing it in uk

Talking about removing the "The", Zoe Wanamaker does it when announcing the nominees at The Olivier Awards. She always says the name of the theatre but without "The" in front. Maybe it's grammatically correct (I don't know), but sounds odd and annoys me.

The original chandelier is back: Well that IS welcome news. Although it isn't the "bigger" one that Cameron was talking about, which makes me think there has been some behind-the-scenes change of plans...but VERY welcome ones! This will mean hiring stage hands to manage it as before (unlike with the new-style one), so if they're stretching the budget to that...then I just hope they can use those stage hands to manage the drapes around the proscenium rather than have that new automated effect with the false internal arch. It's the proscenium I'm most concerned by, especially as Hal Prince wrote that it's key to the show. If we can get the original proscenium back/enhanced rather than cut down to shreds, then this might tempt me to return.

I have just been told, confidentially sadly, so you can either believe me or not, but this was not the original plan. It's actually built off the same set piece. I'm also told that despite what I previously thought, Cameron's people are very much listening on social media.

I just hope it's not too late for the proscenium statues... Incidentally, the foyer of the theatre looks unchanged. Maybe the refurb is just the auditorium...?

Be prepared for an onslaught of "for the 21st century", "through 21st century eyes" when the publicity for this ramps up...it's the phrase they've all been told to say...

A couple of us did comment on here that the chandelier would rise and fall quite a while back now.

I'm sorry if this makes me sound like an idiot, but does this mean the chandelier seen on Instagram is in fact a "new one"? And if Cameron's people are listening on social media, then they must be aware of the discourse surrounding potential changes being made?

"for the 21st century", "through 21st century eyes" ... via the medium of some very eighties music?
