Lucy St. Louis just posted this on her Instagram, regarding finishing her first week of rehearsals for Phantom. Not sure if this was taken from inside HMT, but I'm sure everyone will notice the chandelier at the top. http://instagr.am/p/CQVtQdZHTax That photo was taken at the Gielgud Theatre.

No, it's a projection on the wall Doesn’t look like a projection to me. Probably just put there for decoration. What concerns me is whether they are abandoning all under-stage trap doors and the candelabra rising effect… It looks like the basement has been completely shut and paved over. After all, didn’t they remove the Victorian machinery? Is it even Her Majesty's? In a later post of Lucy's shes posted a pic ofHer Majesty's theatre with "see you soon" written over it

Are they using it for rehearsals? I know rehearsals can take place in theatres where the show the actors/production team are working on won't be playing, like when the cast of 'The Wizard of Oz' at the Palladium did rehearsals at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane at one point.

It’s there for all time.

The comments on their Facebook page make me laugh. I can't get through to some of them this is not going to be the set and it's a totally different theatre. /

I'm pretty sure it's common for rehearsals to take place in other venues, such as another theatre or a rehearsal studio, with the company not actually getting into the venue until tech runs start. Her Majesty's was undergoing renovations as well, so it could be that there are some finishing touches before the company get to rehearse in the space.

Don’t think rehearsing in theatres is uncommon, I’m sure I read Beauty and the Beast were using the Piccadilly to rehearse the other day.

Also, does anyone have any idea when the alternate shows will be? I really want to see Lucy and Holly.

So funny everyone is freaking out saying this is the new set.
I think it’s brilliant they are utilising an empty theatre to rehearse. And that projection has probably been done because they are filming promos/publicity things etc.
Cannot wait for the new BIGGER BOLDER (Cheaper sadder) version to open!

...And the latest set model shows the same 2020 tour chandelier that can't sit on the stage... Even though I think the proscenium is way more important to the show's look than the chandelier, the amount of comments I've seen on social media about this means CML/RUG would have to be really deaf to their audience if they insist on using the tour effect...
