Luke has been Phantom this week. He is on tomorrow and probably the last chance to see him.

Noticed that Hayden Tee seems to be back in the UK for the next 15 months, wonder if he is the new Phantom.

Hayden Tee as Phantom is interesting idea thought I am not really keen on seeing him. Disliked him as Javert in Les Mis. But it seems plausible.

Seeing this thread bumped up reminds me how I love this show so. I must book a return visit soon.

I want to see Ben Lewis before he leaves.
Good to have a masculine actor back in the lead role....

Tim Howar to play the Phantom. I thought he was pretty poor in Chess so I’m not sure how that’s gonna play out...

I loved Tim Howar in Chess, and think he’ll be brilliant as The Phantom of the Opera. He has a wealth of stage experience too, so will be ideal to lead the company and command the stage.
Glad we’re getting a new Carlotta finally.

Just read about Tim Howar - I thought he was fantastic in Chess too, and this announcement is tempting me to see the show again whilst he's in it - I think vocally he will bring something new to the role. He could be fantastic!

I'm losing my mind. I haven't seen Tim Howar in about 10 years, and last time was when he was Roger in Rent on Broadway. Before that it was Marius. Wow! Tim!

Danny Whitehead is going to be a cover Raoul. I can't wait to see him in it.

Interesting that two of the newcomers were both in “Chess” at the ENO. I checked and they don’t even share representation, so the usual cost-cutting thing producers do of hiring from the same agent isn’t even applicable. It’s like Cameron went to see “Chess” and just went “right, you and you”. I appreciate they had to audition and all but I suspect it was a formality.
Always find it fascinating how certain performers are suddenly everywhere, passed between top shows, then vanish. Only to be “rediscovered” often decades later! Too many examples to list here!

“Tim Howar’s exciting vocal take on the iconic score of the Phantom brings a contemporary fresh approach to this legendary role which blew us away at his audition.” - Cameron Mackintosh. Anyone else worried by this? Why do we need a contemporary approach to such a classic role?

Anyone else worried by this? Why do we need a contemporary approach to such a classic role? It's also weird and semi-gaslighty given how different — and more traditionally musical theatre — Tim sounded when he was Marius. That may not be his sound NOW, but it's not a sound that should be unfamiliar to either one of them.

Cammack generally gives very word salad-y responses to certain castings, to me it just reads like someone asked him to say something about Tim and that’s what he came up with on the spot

Tim is in it for 6 months. Then a former Javert takes over.
