There's a Facebook Live event tonight in the POTO Facebook page starting at 7pm with the red carpet until 7.30, then approx 10.10pm for the gala.

Fun stories from Mr. Crawford on the Red Carpet. Love the cufflink/wig fiasco.

Fun stories from Mr. Crawford on the Red Carpet. Love the cufflink/wig fiasco. From Mr. Ball/Mr. Owen-Jones, I presume you mean? Didn't spot Mr. Crawford myself! Great live stream on facebook, I thought. Made it seem like a very, very special occasion indeed (which it is, of course!), and some very cool people interviewed. Very much looking forward to the stream of the gala performance after the main show now! And all from the comfort of my own home!

Not seen them before but in my view, though the occasion is indeed wonderful, this cast are not living up to it, tonight at any rate. A bit sad to see the show celebrate in such a relatively mediocre fashion. Still a superb score though and glad to be here for this milestone.

From what you've been saying, I'm glad I successfully sold my ticket for its full value. I don't think I love Phantom enough to appreciate the 'spectacle' of the event alone.

It is now 10:26. Still no Facebook video - just promises that the wait will be worth it.
It is two minutes later - and we are getting some sound! Anticipation is building.

They just handed out the champagne. I think it will be a while yet before they restart

Unlikely, they don't usually.

Well, that was...uninspiring. Too much cutesyness - not enough performing. Love Sierra - and loved her singing in French. Loved the final note from The Phantom about the production. But, otherwise....meh.

I must want jam on it but I found that totally underwhelming on Facebook. No goosebump moments for me. May have been totally different if you were actually there perhaps...

Watched the live feed with my parents and we hugely enjoyed - and absolutely loved the All I Ask of You routine. Like Last Night of the World at the Saigon 25th. If you can't have a bit of fun at a Birthday gala, when can you?!
However, once it had ended I felt rather underwhelmed by the whole affair after what had been built up. Far too much faffing from Cameron & Andrew. I'm sure the atmosphere was amazing in the theatre, but I certainly would've been a little more than disappointed.
Gutted I missed the Les Mis 30th Gala, though that felt really rather exclusive what with the lottery etc, so I didn't really have much incentive to want to be there. I will, however, before forever overjoyed that I was at the Saigon 25th Gala performance live. I really don't think an anniversary performance (live in the theatre, as opposed to a concert gala) has been matched since.

Was there tonight. Cast wasn't the best I've seen but I enjoyed it none the less. More annoyingly I had to leave part way through the finale to catch the last train home. Sierra was hands down the best of the evening (that I saw).
