I suspect, having seen it, that the show is simply too vanilla. If there had been some truly dark moments perhaps, some real chills, and truly black humour.

Only just watched the trailer. I really like her, she is very talented, but I'm surprised how much of the trailer is Carrie. She sings the main part in three of the four songs featured!

I'd say Gomez is the lead with Wednesday the main supporting character - its their story.

I agree with Ryan that it's Wednesday's story driving The Addams Family. Compare and contrast with the show its plot is lifted from, La Cage aux Folles, where the focus stays firmly on the parental duo, Georges and Albin, and the impact that trying to disguise reality has on their relationship. I realize that The Addams family has more characters to service than La Cage but it might have helped the show to pay more attention to the Gomez and Morticia relationship which should be (but is not) its centrepiece.

Are there any ticket offers in Birmingham ? Not sure. I'd say check B'ham Hippodrome website. They tend to do members discount first night, not sure about Student/Unwaged/OAP discounts. Show only has 7 performances so there may not be that many. Also the trailer heavily featuring CHF makes sense as it will be shown heavily on social media and Carrie has biggest following on there amongst cast I'd guess.

I really enjoyed this. All the central performances were really strong, the set and costumes were great and whilst the music wasn't memorable at all it was nice and entertaining at the time. Now i've seen it i'm surprised so many people thought the comedy was bad and it was a bland show, i thought it was a really funny show, and so did the audience who were regularly in fits, and thought it was a really fun and entertaining show.

I was at the matinee in Nottingham yesterday. There were some good parts in the show but overall I thought it was quite flat and missing something. There was very little plot, I think it could have been made into a much better show.
Highlights in the score for me were Pulled, Full Disclosure, One Normal Night and Crazier Than You. The set was good, for me Wednesday and Gomez were the standouts in the cast along with Lucas' mother. I didnt really see the point of including Thing/the hand at all as it was so unimpressive. The audience seemed to enjoy it with a standing ovation in the stalls.
There was also a five minute break in the first half due to technical issues after Fester sang his song, I think a problem with the curtain

Well I really enjoyed this, and thought it was all of a very high standard. I think my expectations for this were based on having seen our other recent US import, Wonderland, which I found left something to be desired, but The Addams Family is leagues ahead of it! The design really stood out for me - it was in the right gothic style, but still inventive and surprisingly colourful. The book and lyrics are both very solid and I was impressed by how the comedy was pitched - a few light gags but some seriously filthy material too, cleverly written in a way where it'll go over young children's heads so that this remains a family show. The music is really quite clever and varied - I really loved how Lippa incorporates aspects of latin music whilst also providing classic musical theatre showstoppers like 'Pulled' and 'Just Around The Corner'.
The cast are stellar - the ensemble are energetic and always invested in their unique characters, and the two main families form a strong, cohesive unit that keeps the whole show pitched in exactly the right place. For me, the stand-outs were Cameron Blakeley as Gomez and Carrie Hope Fletcher as Wednesday - both had their characterisation spot on, have brilliant voices, and delivered every line perfectly. The big surprise for me was Samantha Womack, who I've never seen before on stage or screen and so had no idea what to expect. It took me a little time to warm to her performance (Anjelica Huston gave such an iconic performance as Mortitia that I struggled to get her out of my mind) but Womack definitely won me over - her Act Two opening number in particular was excellent. The only cast member I was slightly disappointed with was Oliver Ormson as Lucas - I felt that he was straying a little too close to cliché in his characterisation, and while his voice was technically very good I found it to be too thin and tinny for my liking. A shame, as I'd heard very good things from a friend who saw him as Elder Price.
I would love for this show to get a stint in the West End - it looks like it's sold very well across its 2 week run at the barn that is the Mayflower, which is no mean feat, and it appeals to a wide variety of audiences. It certainly deserves recognition for its quality in my eyes.

The problem I had with his performance was that it was exactly the same performance as I saw him give as Elder Price.

Right, I am not going mental. At the weekend I saw a bogof offer for this for a couple of specific dates but didn't have my wallet with me. By the time I went back onto the WMC website it had gone. Despite the decidedly average reviews my whole family want to see this, and I'm not really wanting to shell out £200 for it. Anyone know where I saw it and how I can find it again?

Anyone know where I saw it and how I can find it again? It was a Flash Sale and has now expired. There was also a Flash Sale for Hairspray at the same time.

Saw this the other night. I last saw the show on Broadway on a trip to NYC in 2011. Bit of a weird one - generated a lot of laughs and an enthusiastic curtain call, but I still can't think of one memorable song apart from Pulled. Bizarre that Les Dennis' crap song about the moon got the best reaction... Nice set and staging, the band sounded good too. Carrie Hope Fletcher was having an off night and cracked on the big notes. Her's and Oliver Ormson's American accents were dreadful. She was phoning in and had nothing of the quirkiness and charm of Krysta Rodriguez's original Wednesday. He barely registered. Grandma, Fester and Lurch got the biggest laughs, they were brilliant, as were the ensemble - even if the show doesn't really seem to know what to do with them half the time. Over the top choreography. ... yet despite all this, I left the theatre happy and glad that we went. It's 2 hours of well-staged, corny fun but don't expect anything memorable.

I'm not one to usually discuss an actors personal life or anything about them outside the show. As long as they do a good job on stage I don't care what they get up yo off stage BUT...... can someone help me with something.... Oliver Ormson....where is he from? Is he British? American? he recently took over West End Wilma social media and his accent has me very confused?

They appear to be attached at the hip. It's sooooooooo cuuuuuuuute!

Reckon this is ok for a musical loving 6 year old boy? I know it says 7+ but he loves the soundtracks to Matilda, Hamilton, dear Evan Hanson etc.... (translation: I want an excuse to see it...)

My main worry for a 6 year old is would they sit through a full length show, if yes then I think it would be suitable (I've taken my Beaver Scouts to a few shows). I did take my nephew to Sweeney Todd when he was 10 (and looking forward to taking him to Hamilton in January) so might not be the best person to ask!
