From that picture Id guess to entire production budget to be about £50. Ive seen better set on amateur stages.

Blimey... Looks like an excellent amdram production, but as a Broadway show, asking Broadway prices, what the hell happened? The London set got a bit of flack but that is something else!

What is wrong with taking the set from London and the musical numbers from New York, have them make a baby and that can be the show?

The London set was great. They will be making a huge mistake if they take this set on the UK tour...

If that's the door to Wonka's factory, it looks like a Porta-Loo.

It's like they're not even trying to hide how the Oompa Loompa's work!
I really hope the tour doesn't use this set either, but the problem with London set was that it was absolutely huge and there would be no way the Drury Lane set could tour, unless they scaled it down enormously. So maybe the Broadway production has just been designed with that in mind...

So maybe the Broadway production has just been designed with that in mind Yeah, but they could have scaled it so it could be shifted by truck, not just shoved in an envelope and mailed. I think the only thing on the designers mind when doing this was budget. just look close up how cheaply constructed the piece looks. http://instagram.com/p/BSndx4clOOM

No that can't seriously be a Broadway set??? That's atrocious!! And I never even saw Charlie when it was in London! I've seen better sets at Upstairs at the Gatehouse, the Union & Southwark Playhouse!

I think they're taking the "pure imagination" idea a little too far.

Why is Willy Wonka almost the size of the factory?

How do you add photos? I've got images from all the sets of Charlie on Broadway...

Read on BW forum... "There was a little girl sitting next to me, probably about six or seven, who kept asking her Mom why the squirrels tore apart Veruca and killed her and started crying."

That girl sounds really annoying. If she was four, I'd be okay with her reaction. But I was already watching the exorcist at 7.

That is not how you present material to young impressionable children.

This guy on YouTube has uploaded recordings of some of the songs from Broadway among his many recordings from London. www.youtube.com/channel/UCq1lYU_HzGBWc46cT4_0_Xg/videosThe Broadway songs include the new Glass Elevator song "The View From Here", the new Mrs. Teevee song "What Could Possibly Go Wrong?" and some of the songs from the London production (which have mostly been re-worked) "More of Him To Love", "Strike It, Reverse It!" "Pure Imagination", "Auf Weidersehn Augustus Gloop" and "Veruca's Nutcracker Sweet".
