I'm happy with ballots, but with a couple of provisos: - it should be one shot per punter; - successful applicants in one ballot should have a few years of purdah before they're allowed to enter subsequent ballots, to give others a go. I don't think YMBBT deliver on either of those. I think I'm right when I say it was 2016 since the last YMBBT, so the purdah is already in place, isn't it? One of the evenings I was there for 2016 was specially run for people with life challenging / life limiting illnesses. I was completing the short H&S forms that night, the answers to my usual questions "are you pregnant, have you got any injuries" ... was sobering, I think of some of those people often. I was in a few different scenes through the short run in 2016 and found the evenings really entertaining, if anyone is considering volunteering. I didn't have to do every night, they sent through a calendar and I chose the nights I was free/willing. I didn't get a choice of scenes, they were allocated. |
