I hate it when they use unique booking links because emails don't go out all in one go so that everyone receives them at the same time. They're staggered by the email software even though they press send to everyone at the same time, which means a significant number of people usually receive them after the on sale time. Which makes it doubly unfair when you add the queuing system to the process as well.

They never send them out early enough and if a lot of people signed up it could take over an hour for links to reach everyone! Always means lots of people miss out

Its a double edged sword with these sort of emails.
One side is the potential late receiving but on the counter, getting emails out as close to the time as possible reduces the amount of multiple browsers people have open.
Which is worse?

I also think the Shawn Mendes sale might have affected things.

Unless you want a particular seat, you have all day. No section is going to sell out on pre-sale.

Unless you want a particular seat, you have all day. It's not going to sell out on pre-sale. No. But value for money seats are likely to shift first, and you could end up missing out on those. If you're over 3o, of course. LOL.

Unless you want a particular seat, you have all day. No section is going to sell out on pre-sale. Often there are a few slightly more 'reasonable' front stalls tickets that go on sale (under £100) that get snapped up very quickly. So I almost always want to be in and booking a west end play immediately to get those, otherwise front stalls is too expensive for me. And I prefer not to pay the same price for back of stalls / back of circle.

Maybe LW Theatres and JL Company forgot this was on sale today or more likely there are some teething problems.

Quick Twitter search among the masses suggests nobody has had their emails yet!

Not sure if this is anything, but it seems like they opened booking for a Shawn Mendes gig at the Drury Lane this morning too... with "overwhelming demand" and a "longer than expected queue."
Seems like a long day at LW Theatres!

It always makes me doubt whether or not I did sign up for the pre-sale. I'm sure I did

Seems like a long day at LW Theatres! incredibly poor planning having the Shawn Mendes sale directly before which has overwhelmed the website.

There could have been a big mix-up behind the scenes. The latest post from JLC on Facebook says tickets go on sale at 11am GMT. We are in BST at the moment, 11am GMT is 12pm BST.

I don’t think BST/GMT is the issue here. Other than that one post everywhere else simply says 11am. The Shawn Mendes sale completely overwhelmed them and they’re scrambling. They just need to say sorry we messed up, we’ll post news by such a time.

There is only one time - it's not like there are time zones: 'For the duration of this pre-sale, we are pre-empting the clocks going forward'. What next: Yorkshire Mountain Time, Scottish Islands Time ..

Oh I think we know in a theatre world that ain't true. "The show will start in three minutes" inevitably leads to a lot longer than three minutes!
