Was it the standard drury lane seating plan? Not being done in the round or anything?

Surprised to hear there was a queue earlier on. I was in a meeting at work until about 12.40, but I clicked on the link as soon as I was back at my desk. I though I might have missed out or else be 10,000+ in the queue by then, but there was no queue, just straight to the booking screen and all done in a few mins.

Reviewing Jamie Lloyd shows I've seen, they hover around three stars until the dire Pitchfork Disney and Sunsent Boulevard which both barely deserve even the one stars' worth of enjoyment I awarded. He's very much my idea of how a naked emperor showing off his finery would appear. But it's Sigourney <insert pejorative participle> Weaver! So, FOMO and all that, I've booked. What a flunkey I am! She better show up. THIS!!! The online queue for MUCH ADO will be a lot longer as TH has a much younger and wider demographic than SW; Marvel etc etc. But he holds zero appeal.

I realise it's Sigourney Weaver but I'm surprised they are using all the auditorium for this. That's a hell of a lot of seats to sell.

I don't think Sigourney is that big a name to fill Drury Lane. Although she has been in a few massive franchises, their success wasn't really down to her (apart from maybe Alien). Most of her films as lead haven't been massive box office hits. And I'm not sure how many of the movie franchise fans will be interested enough in her to pay out for Shakespeare.
This isn't Tom Holland or Kit Connor levels of fandom.

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but to provide a swings and roundabouts point of view, I leapt at the chance to see Sigourney, but have no idea who Kit Connor is! She's a total A-lister in my world, but I can understand not being so in others.

Weaver is a big name to the general public she just doesn't have a rabid fan base who are going to snap up tickets immediately.
It will sell slower but will likely still sell well especially once the wider publicity kicks in.

I wonder if some are waiting to see if the tickets get cheaper nearer the time too…!

The star of Half Moon Street should definitely fill the Drury Lane with tens of fans of the film.

The fact this is running right through January is also a factor - that is traditionally a slow month and there are fewer American tourists in London. I’d like to see it mainly due to the historical significance of the theatre but I’m not that motivated by the star or director, if there are ticket deals I’ll try for one.

I'd expect all the bells and whistles on offer for that price and tea with Sigourney. We're paying silly prices now.

Could anyone shed some light on when the under-30s and key worker tickets are likely to go on sale for Tempest/Much Ado?

I’m still wondering when they’ll even put Much Ado on general sale first.

Mason Alexander Park as Ariel sounds right. Very interested to see what they do with the role!

I see Sigourney insisted on returning the favour by getting her great mate Selina Cadell a role after Selina got Sigourney into Doc Martin.

At 11 am. As a Barbican Member I've got The Seagull at 10 am that day. Hope the queue for that one isn't too long. Reckon I'll be "working" from home that day.

Has anyone sat front of stalls at this theatre before? I normally do front of circle but with this being a play thought I might like front of stalls for a change. It looks okay from pictures, not too high?

It looks okay from pictures, not too high? You're exactly right. I sat second row of the stalls for Frozen, and the stage feels incredibly low compared to most London theatres, so height isn't particularly a concern

Does anyone know if the front 2 rows all sold out or being held back? Really hoping for some deals for this later on as it's such a large venue to fill.

I bought tickets for second row of the stalls, so only the front row I believe is being kept for under 30s etc. And other areas of the theatre (dress and grand circle).
