This is a delightfully funny little play. Tessa Albertson is fantastic. Kyle Birch (A Strange Loop @ Barbican) gets to really chow down on some scenery here. Anders Hayward is so very Tobey Maguire it’s a bit uncanny. Albertson is just such a joy to watch. I’m glad my gut told me to book the £10 preview, but I’d pay more for the fun I had. Playing through 10 August. southwarkplayhouse.co.uk/productions/im-gonna-marry-you-tobey-maguire/

We were also there last night. It's pretty bonkers and (mostly) hugely entertaining. Cast looking to be having a ball, some light corpsing more than once. One complaint, perhaps to rely on a stereotype - it is very American in that the volume is just too high, several lines which are screamed are lost in the scream. There are many moments calling out for a tiny bit of restraint just lacking. I don't know if it played a larger room in the US but in the Little, it just goes too OTT. I'm hoping they'll realise and tone it down a little. There is a large joke towards the end which totally fails to land as almost no-one can make the line out! A tiny pause for laughter but no laughter and neither of us had any idea what she said.
Other than that, bonkers fun and a cast more than up for it. Each of them is great. Sold out last night which hopefully bodes well for them.
