I apologize for starting a new thread but I couldn't find any in which to ask this question.
I'll be visiting London next week with a friend who's never been to the UK before, so I want to give her some quintessential experiences and I think this should definitely include visiting a pub for a traditional pub meal (we also got Afternoon Tea booked).
Can anyone recommend a nice pub in Theatreland with a non-crowded dining area and decently priced food? Ideally somewhere near the Lyric Theatre as I'll be dragging her into Hadestown. But anything is possible, we'll also go and see Starlight Express, but would rather have a meal in the West End before trekking out to Wembley.

Near the Lyric I would suggest: The White Horse 45 Rupert St, London W1D 7PB is very traditional with wood paneling and the dinning area is upstairs. The Duke of Argyll 37 Brewer St, London W1F 0RY this is a classic Victorian style. Both are Samuel Smith's establishments so do not do commercial brands: samuelsmithsbrewery.co.uk/pubs/ also in these pubs there is no music playing so a perfect place to enjoy a beer/food while having a good conversation!

The Nell of old Drury on Catherine Street (opposite Theatre Royal Drury Lane) used to be a favourite amongst theatre folks in the West End. I don’t really do post show pub drinks anymore but back in the days I loved going there for a pint after watching a show. Always a really friendly atmosphere.
They don’t do food but I would definitely recommend the place if you want to take your friend somewhere for a drink post Hadestown.

I also recommend Nell plus Bow St Tavern (37 Bow St, London WC2E 7AU) is nice. I am not sure what the food is like is like in either though.

The aptly named Lyric, on Great Windmill Street, has a separate upstairs dining area. www.lyricsoho.co.uk/

The Salisbury on St Martin's Lane remains fairly traditional and if you want a hidden gem close to Charing Cross, try this: www.shipandshovell.co.uk.
