I saw this tweet from one of the writers of The Professionals TV series reporting about the death of actor Ian Gelder aged 74. Many have watched Ian in Game of Thrones and Doctor Who, or know him mainly because of his partner, Ben Daniels, but Ian himself was also a prolific character actor on stage and screen. The media will likely pick up this news in a matter of hours. Sending condolences to his family, especially to Ben. x.com/ci5bdc/status/1787814148543283668?s=46&t=U_eg6H3hI7v9FHf5TFJ_jAEdit: It’s official. Sad news and not a great age either. I'd forgotten that he was Ben Daniels' partner and our thoughts are with Ben, his family and Ian's family and their friends.
Ian was a fine character actor one of those performers who has appeared in so many iconic shows in guest roles and had a long, steady and quietly successful career.
When I saw that Ian was 74 I was thinking he must have been a lot older than Ben. He was 15 years older but it makes us old to think Ben will turn 60 this year however youthful he continues to look.
Next month will be so hard for poor Ben as he'll turn 60 and Ian would have turned 75 a week later. We don't know if Ian has had health issues but they might have had plans for a big double celebration so I hope Ben will get all the love and support he needs.

From Ben’s statement, Ian was diagnosed with bile duct cancer last December and passed away yesterday, 6 May. Ben was supposed to do press work for his upcoming series, Interview with the Vampire season 2, which is going to premiere next Sunday in the US, but was unable to travel in order to take care of Ian.

What a wonderful tribute by Ben, but very sad news indeed.
