A mix of UK/NYC creatives….
Could be huge…

Will this be immersive and the venue be similar to an arena? And will this be in Zone1 or further out?

I heard Marcus Brigstocke will be reprising the role of Barnum. He might even get across the titerope this time.

It WILL be.
Everybody I know, 90 percent of whom never go to the theatre, LOVE the soundtrack to that movie and go around singing it!

I’m sure audience behaviour will be exemplary.

A custom built venue?!? For why? Presumably with the anticipation of keeping the show open forever, without coughing up for a major West End Theatre, like the Abba Voyage thing. :0

Or one of the cheap as chips circus tents sat empty somewhere? Would make sense.

Hated the film so it’s a very hard pass for me.
Enjoy the Prosecco.

If done right this will do very well. It helps that the soundtrack is so well known. It was the best selling album in 2018 in the UK so has a massive base on which to build. Audience members generally like knowing the songs and if it is a spectacle then it could do very well. It could be very expensive to mount though to come across as big as the film.

The last 'custom built' was Dock X which was just horrible so I hope this one is a bit better.

I’ve absolutely no doubt that this will find its audience. I enjoyed the film but have since heard “This Is Me” far too many times since then to the point that it now makes me want to run for the hills!

I'm probably the only person in the UK who still hasn't seen it. Recorded the film ages ago when it was on TV and still haven't got around to watching it.

I expect it will be a giant circus tent style venue?
I loved the movie, but it's been so overplayed for me to enjoy the songs anymore.

I'm probably the only person in the UK who still hasn't seen it. Until last Saturday night there were two of us, when I spotted it in the E4 schedule. Apart from General Tom Thumb and the fire scene, this is going to be the easiest film to stage transfer in the history of film to stage transfers.

The soundtrack is 40 mins long so they’ll need some more music! Never seen the film but now associate the songs SO much with the abysmal Britain’s Got Talent and diabolical audiences that think would also be a hard pass for me…..
No doubt it will run for years though! Decades probs.

Lock it in the Roundhouse for the rest of time…I don’t go on the Northern Line if I can help it so it’ll never bother me.
But realistically, this has Drury Lane all over it if the Palladium is clogged up with Dolly. It would sit well in the Dominion too.

I’m sure audience behaviour will be exemplary. I certainly won't be there to find out. I thought the movie was appalling but clearly I am in the minority on this one. Just glad they are reportedly going for a purpose built venue and not clogging up a West End house.

Drury Lane being Greatest Showman for the foreseeable next 10 years is something I don't want to think about...! It being in a custom-built venue I think is definitely a deliberate strategy. A venue, that Disney own fully, that they can put anything on in sounds like the kind of thing they'd be SO into.
