Just had an email through that the London Musical Theatre Orchestra are putting on Something Rotten! in Concert at TRDL.
5th & 6th August.
Starting Jason Manford.
Such an unexpected announcement but so excited!
Pre-sale tickets go on Sale 9 May at 10am.

After Pippin this week I'm actually less down on concerts - when they're good, they're really good, and this is in the hands of people who make GOOD stuff, so I'm excited.

I've been to a couple of the good concerts recently. Pippin and Side Show BUT I'll still wait for more details. Who is producing it, who is casting it and who is in it. Then I'll decide.

I doubt it - the economics of doing a concert and filling say, 2000 seats for a night are much easier than a run somewhere. I can't stand these one nighters, but that's where we are with trying to put commercially viable productions on. |

I agree with this but at the same time the occasional concert is now becoming a bit of a deluge and too many shows that deserve a staging aren't getting them. |

I saw this in nyc, and it was fine, but I wouldn't say it cried out for a transfer. It was very American and an Americans cliche view of England

Mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I love the show and it'll be great to see it on a UK stage following the COVID-cancelled Birmingham production. On the other hand, the material relies heavily on sets and props and costumes to bolster the jokes. It's at its funniest when drenched in Broadway excess, so I imagine a smaller concert staging will damage it more than most shows.
Then again, the recent Addams Family concert did a incredible job staging its humor. And these producers have a good track record. So fingers crossed!

Saw the Broadway production twice and was hoping for an eventual transfer but not this. The show doesn't really lend itself to the concert format and given the way audiences tend to behave at concert versions vs an actual show, no. |

I don't know too much abut this show in terms of the plot or the songs.
I mean, I'm certainly aware of it and the fact that many would like to see a transfer.
What I do know is what a funny guy Jason Mansford is and what a rich, full-rounded voice he has.

It was very American and an Americans cliche view of England This is also my concern - I know people have said how much sense this story makes to come to the UK, but it's a VERY American version of a British story, would be interested if the writers do any tweaks if it were to lead to a full production. |

I've mixed feelings on this as would love a fully staged version but I think I'll probably be booking tickets as I've been waiting to see this for years, was disappointed when it wasn't picked back up by Birmingham Rep as I'd got tickets and it sounded like it would have been a great show. Hopefully a great cast and sure I'll love it!

All very easy for me. Straight in at 10am.
Tickets expensive but expected. Snagged some tickets for back row of Grand Circle as trusty SeatPlan says it’s a safe bet. Very excited!

Those prices and three performances. Looks like they've only put selected rows on sale so far. I saw this twice in NYC and enjoyed it, but it's not a natural fit for a concert performance (even if semi-staged). I'll hold out buying for now until nearer the time.
