Oh fantastic news, I'm going to see an amateur production in October but this has been on my want to see list since falling in love with the cast recording.
Bromley looking likely for me!!

Oooh lovely. I'd have thought Ruth Madoc was a teeny bit too old for the Drew Barrymore part but I admire her chutzpah anyway.

Does this mean Jon Robyns will only do half of Sister Act?

Ooh amazing! I love Jon Robyns. Will definitely be booking. Although my friend tells me this is one of the worst shows she's ever been in! So bad it's good aparently, which I love!

Do you think this will sell better than Legally Blonde? I don't know if they will be that bothered. It's not one of their own productions.

I like the score and wanted to see this show for quite a while now. Really looking forward to this, even though I've never seen the film.

I saw the Broadway production. It's by no means a great show - the story sort of disintegrates - but the score is solid and it's quite funny. It's certainly not in the "so bad it's good" category.

Jon Robyns seems to be constantly working! He never stops. (That's a good thing, I know, just surprised he doesn't seem to have any time off!)

I love him too. So glad to see him leading a show. Definitely one of my fave MT actors. May have to catch the tour in Bromley as both Leicester and Birmingham dates fall on exam weeks for me.I was surprised to see promotional photos of the cast already as I swear we knew almost nothing about this until today.

I think it is brave. I hope it works out for the producers - but it is asking a lot in terms of market appeal. The film was never a huge UK hit and the stage version has very little profile over here.
I can't find much about how well the 2008 tour sold - but I can't recall it setting the box offices on fire.
From what I have heard of the score, it sounds fun enough. But I fear it will need a huge marketing effort to persuade audiences to go along in big numbers over an extended tour.

Love that people have completely different opinions. It probably didn't sell all that well though because I'm pretty sure I had good last minute seats when I did go. Edit: I completely agree with the "so bad it's good" comment someone mentioned and I'll definitely be watching this version at some point (probably only once this time though).

Jon should be great in this role. I'm involved in an amateur production of this in October in Nottingham with a great cast. Hope too many people don't hold off for this tour instead now! Some great 80s pastiche music in the score.

This is an underrated show. Obviously it's nothing brilliant, but the score is infectious and it certainly puts a smile on your face. It seems incredibly stupid to book such massive houses though. Surely they'd be better touring more moderate sized venues for 6 months before going for such monsters as the Liverpool Empire? Maybe they think Ray Quinn will bring people in. Good luck to them... *eeeek*
Hope you're all well xxx

I haven't seen this show, nor heard the cast recording despite owning it, so a tick there for me.
I sa jon Robyns recentley and I thought he was pretty dreadful in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, so dimissed him as being a lead actor, then saw him agian in Legally Blonde, where he was very good.
