Cheryl Baker said on BBC Breakfast today that the story of “Making Your Mind Up” is being written now and will be heading to the West End.
(No doubt it tells the story of a woman who couldn’t make up her mind whether to pre-order one or two bottles of Bucks Fizz to drink in the interval)

Such a weird feature in the prime 7.50am showbiz slot, when there isn't actually a musical in existence yet as far as I could tell, and with no announcement. Always nice to see David Benedict though!
But honestly, I'll be amazed if this sees the light of day in the West End; a run of the mill tour perhaps. Most people under the age of 45 have never heard of them and anyone who does remember them wouldn't actually want to see a musical about them, or using their songs, let's be honest.

My thoughts exactly, maybe a two hit wonder. They aren’t ABBA or any other group.

My thoughts exactly, maybe a two hit wonder. They aren’t ABBA or any other group. I said this on twitter and someone replied “13 top 40 songs, 5 top 40 albums”. I can literally name 2.

Your ability to name them doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. They burned bright for about 4 years before the coach crash/affair etc burned it to the ground. The musical has been in development for about four years I think.

My goodness. I loved Bucks Fizz when I was young. First band I ever saw live, at the Coventry Apollo 😹 Is the musical about the band, or a juke box musical using the songs?
It does feel very very niche, but I’d have to go and see it.

I think this is the first time a thread title has caused me to do a double take!
Yes, they had a handful of hits but, beyond a key three or four, the rest were fairly minor and don't even get played on oldies stations now. Shame in a way because a few, like When We Were Young, are actually pretty good.
Good luck to them... I suspect they'll need it!

They still perform now as The Fizz with 3 of the original band. They have also recorded several albums withike Stock in recent years so still have a fan base.

My thoughts exactly, maybe a two hit wonder. They aren’t ABBA or any other group. a little bit more than a 2 hit wonder they do have some really great songs which I think would be great in a musical 11 top 20 singles Over 50 million record sales Many people wouldn’t know the drifters , temptations , etc bit they still made musicals about them for example Depends on if it’s gonna be the actual fizz story I guess or just using the songs .. but with all the fall outs , coach crash winning Eurovision … David van day defecting to Bucks fizz from dollar trying to take over blimey 😳 could be fun after all

Bobby Gee retains the rights to use the name and relations between him and the three other original members are NOT good. A partisan story that makes one side or the other to be the bad guys probably wouldn't get off the ground, I reckon.
