He was a stalwart at the NT for few years during the Peter Hall era appearing in multiple productions ranging from Jean Seberg (1*) to the McKellen Coriolanus (4*). I also recall his one-man show about Jerome K Jerome.

Fred Elliott and Ashley Peacock together was comedy gold. Oh for the old days when Corrie was good.

When a teenaged Sheridan Smith played Annie at the world-famous Crucible Theatre, John Savident was her Daddy Warbucks.
I have very few claims to fame, but I did once, literally, almost bump into him. One Saturday afternoon, I was coming down the steps out of the Royal Exchange in Manchester. As I reached the pavement, John Savident was there. We both looked at each other. He seemed to be preparing himself for me saying something. I didn't, of course.
