I didn't recognise the one on the bottom row far left (to be honest I didn't know she was still alive). The others were all pretty easy to identify, though I'm not sure 'illustrious acting talent' applies to them all.

I'm disappointed to have only seen five of these grand old dames on stage (and sat behind a sixth earlier this year). Must do better!

It's funny how Floella Benjamin and Twiggy get to coat-tail on these renowned thesp gatherings because they're Dames who have acted but I'm sure they're both great fun to have around.
I think Keith, Lipman, Lumley and McKenna's d-hoods have been more influenced by their charity work - wonderful performers they all are but I think there's a whole different category of esteem for the likes of Dench, Walter et al.

Recognised all of them and have seen several of them either in stage or in the audience, but where is Dame Maggie?

tbf, some of these turn up to the opening of curtains. As they say in my game, there's a spectrum - I suppose it includes those who turned down all badges offered by Quennie.

All his agent (who is also his wife) has to do when the phone rings is pick it up and say “Yes”. The array of male acting talent there is more interesting - several of them fully-paid up Marxists (or similar), surprised to see them hobnobbing with Royalty. Pleased to see Freddie Fox there raising his profile - he’s already said he wants to play Henry V so I don’t know why the RSC don’t get on and cast him.

Interesting that the male contingent didn't include Rylance or Jacobi, both famous Shakespeare deniers (although this may not have been the reason of course).

Lovely photos. Made me feel lucky to have been around watching these great actors over the years. It seems like a long time since SRB was on the stage. Would be nice to hear news of his return. Meanwhile fans of his and Rylance's may enjoy The Outfit on Netflix - US crime thing with a twisty plot and both of them in.

I didn't recognise McKenna but the rest I knew.
Seen 7 of them on stage and the only one of the rest I regret missing is Routledge.
Penelope Keith popped up on a C5 programme about To The Manor Born the other day. She looks in good health, would love to see her make one last stage run.
The missing dames are the ones you'd expect not to be there. In different circumstances I'd have thought Julie Walters would have appeared but I think she's been quite ill.

I didn't recognise McKenna but the rest I knew. The missing dames are the ones you'd expect not to be there. I’m surprised Vanessa Redgrave was there but Helen Mirren wasn’t.

Penny Keith is my neighbour. See her often walking her dog in the mornings. I think I recognised 7 of them - quite pleased with myself!

I’ve seen Freddie Fox in Romeo and Juliet in Sheffield and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, both excellent so would love to see him in more Shakespeare.
