I also won the pay what you can lottery for this week. You can select your seats from the map, I got an aisle seat row D of the royal circle, regular price £90. You can select from a list how much you want to pay, minimum £1. When I got through to booking there were pairs of seats available dotted around all levels.

I'm seeing this later in the week thanks to the Pay What You Can lottery. I'd completely forgotten I'd signed up but it was very easy to get tickets when the email came through last week. I've read the plot synopsis and it really doesn't sound like the kind of thing I'd usually go for, but for PWYC prices I figured it'll be well worth a punt. Just thought I'd put a reminder in here in case anyone's not aware of this scheme - or, like me, had forgotten. I believe they release tickets every Wednesday for the next week's performance. Do you get a choice of seats? Where are yours? Thanks! Loads of choice! I'm sure the seats were across all levels. I went for near the front of the stalls where the surrounding seats are all £90, so it's exceptional value.

Well, that was an interesting night tonight. It was both a bizarre and thought provoking (exploring the issues of slavery, sex, power and trauma) in equal measure. Firstly, lining up outside the NC tonight, everyone was given a camera phone sticker to use. No problem as there are scenes of both partial and full nudity in this play (all tastefully done) which tonight ran at around 2hrs and 10 minutes straight through. Despite the length, I will say I thought it was well paced and I really couldn’t see a suitable point where you could stick an interval. Even though it only a second preview, I wouldn’t have known. No issues tonight.
Whilst there is a lot of satire in the writing and comedy moments, particularly in the first half the play when we are introduced to the 3 couples in 3 separate scenes set in and around a plantation. It is really in the second half when all the couples are in the therapy room and their individual relationships and the dynamics of being in a mixed race relationship are explored and broken down do we get to the more hard hitting part of the play where it becomes more interesting and thought provoking watching it. The set design from Clint Ramos consists mainly of a back wall of mirrors which smaller bits of set appear. I am guessing that this design was meant to represent the ability to take a good hard long look at each other both for each of the couples and as an audience in what we are watching on stage. Apologies for the vagueness, but I don’t really want to spoil it for others.
I certainly didn’t have any issues with the cast tonight. A strong cast here though it was the pairing of Fisayo Atkinade and James Cusati-Moyer which for me was the most interesting couple to explore and had some of the most emotional punch for me.
An interestingly response at cast bows - from my seat at the back of the Royal Circle (nothing of the set missed from my seat in row G), I could only see one or two folk on their feet (I certainly wasn’t one of them). Also not much audience feedback, good, bad on my way out. An interesting evening but this one wouldn’t make my end of year top 10 shows.

Rating - 3 ⭐️ I was also watching from the Royal Circle tonight! I thought it was phenomenal, though. Real characters dealing with complex topics in an open, not abstract way. I also didn’t get up at the end, but only because I was still processing (wink, wink) it - I still am! Definitely one of the best plays I’ve seen in a while.

What on earth is a "camera phone sticker", please, anyone? Never heard of these and if this a production at which audience members are actually encouraged to use their phones, that alone (leaving aside concerns, from what I've read about it so far, that I wouldn't understand what the play itself was doing) would deter me from booking. It's already bad enough having mobiles ring during performances despite umpteen pe-show warnings.

How does that suggest they're accommodating the use of phones, surely it's the exact opposite? It's a more strict measure than just sending out ushers before the show with signs saying photography/filming is not allowed.

Yeah sticker on the lens isn't a new idea, nor is it encouraging use of phones, it's reinforcing the message not to use them by asking people to cover them up.
I annoyingly double booked for this so I need to rebook, but after the Broadway Q&A video went viral a couple of years ago, I've been very keen to see it. I also really liked Daddy. Jeremy O'Harris is an interesting writer imo, he causes controversy with all audiences, which is no bad thing!
