I went to the dress-up singalong last night and it was just brilliant, such a great atmosphere, the entire audience stood up for the whole of "I Would Do Anything for Love", it was genuinely like a rock concert, even the cast seemed shocked and moved! Some of the costumes were amazing and I was surprised how many people actually dressed up. Poor Rob Fowler though, he slipped on the car during Paradise and seriously hurt his ankle, you could tell he was in agony every time he put his foot down so he did most of the rest of the song and the dance routine on one foot. Huge respect. (he didn't return for the second half and posted a picture of a very swollen ankle from A&E) Twitter and fb have been full of how great last night was- it was the only singalong we didn’t have tickets to and it sounds like it was a fantastic night! I hope Rob F is ok though, sounds like a nasty injury.

There's tour in Germany. I'll be in Dusseldorf in December and would go if the show is in English. Would this production be in German or English?

Sadly, they're ruining it by performing (mostly) in German.
And it seems the US Tour was cancelled very suddenly and out of nowhere...

Yes, the US tour has been cancelled. There were grumblings about who the tour producer was - because in the past he's announced tours, sold tickets, cast the show, started rehearsals and then pulled the plug with no notice. The show will finish in Toronto and that's it for North America. Which makes me unhappy, because Denver was a scheduled stop. I'm just glad I didn't buy my tickets yet.

How awful that this happens time and time again! That poor cast & crew.

Yes, very sad news to come home to. And I already booked my flights for next spring to catch the tour in Philly. Hopefully good new stuff on Broadway will make up for this, but I'm presently less fazed about my own tiny woes compared to the cast and crew being left empty-handed at such short notice.

Gosh that's really sad news for the cast and crew - how awful. I am very surprised to be honest. Was this tour not being produced by the UK producers? You'd have thought they'd be on top of things. (That said I never really understand how producers work in USA - there always seems to be a massive list of them unlike in UK where it's one company).
Anyway, wonder what the future will be for Bat now? Still hoping for a UK tour..... There's two spare sets now lol!
What I will say, now that he's free - GET ANDREW POLEC BACK to close the show in London. Much as I like the new Strats, he was the original and best. Send London out on a high :-)

Jordan has really grown on me actually! He has a great voice (and a great body lol), though is definitely a bit more "Musical Theatre Strat." Went on Monday and saw Simon Gordon again who remains my favourite non-Andrew Strat. Hoping to catch Barney before the run ends. Still gutted this is closing. Wonder if would had worked out better had they picked a smaller theatre...

Wonder if would had worked out better had they picked a smaller theatre... It sells fairly well, just not 2000 seats a night well. I do wonder if the size of the set would have been an issue going into a smaller house. I think Simon is my current favourite of the 3- although I saw Barney last week on with Eve, and I liked the way he played Strat. I just wish there was further life for this show, but it really does seem to have the odds stacked against it at the moment!

*whispers back* I prefer Jordan too. Shhhhhhh. Andrew has a great voice but something about the way he played the role creeped me out more than it endeared me.

I do wonder if the size of the set would have been an issue going into a smaller house. Barney has an interesting take on the character and I do like him but I just find him a bit young! When Zahara climbs on top of him it all seems a bit wrong!! He and Eve go quite well together though. It’s also fairly highly priced, there are discounts but not through many sites that non-regular theatregoers know about. When you look at the bookings invariably the cheaper back of the stalls is almost sold out and the expensive front half of the stalls sells badly. Sometimes when I go the back of the theatre is packed and the front is half empty (but they don’t move people forward!). I do wonder if they’d have been better off selling more tickets at £40/£50 than less at the £70+, but I assume the people who make these decisions know more about it than I do…. I’m still holding out hope for a UK tour, although it seems unlikely…..

Here's Bradley Dean's post if you don't want to give BWW the clicks (and want easier access to the comments; there's one about Harmony I hadn't realized). /

Poor Andrew for leaving the West End cast to do this tour, as well as the rest of the company.

Michael Cohl is the guy who managed to get Spider-man to Broadway and A Night With Janis Joplin that was a disaster. It should have been a red flag to everybody that the show was going to City Center instead of a Broadway house. If a Jukebox musical can't sell on tour across America... You know you're in trouble.

According to Broadway.com, the New York City Center run will happen as scheduled...

I’m curious what they’ll do with their amazing US Tour cast. Somehow keep them on retainers for 8 months? Gotta say, I don’t see that happening.

Just so sad. I imagine, based on their responses and the way it has happened, none of them will want anything to do with the producers so a whole new cast for New York I imagine.

That’s pretty standard for any show.
