I don’t know what the people commenting on IG were listening to.

Hmm. That is a bit screechy for me. I love the song. The last time I saw Pippin was at The Charing Cross theatre and I really enjoyed it. Given this current clip, I think I'd rather listen to that cast! (Though I am sure I'll go to the Pippin concert).

Is she doing the chorus an octave higher or is it always like that?!

Neither part of the song fits her voice properly.
And breath control is not what it should be.
Hopefully by the end of rehearsals it will be a better integrated vocal performance

I like it to be honest.

Hopefully rehearsals will bring it to an equivalent quality to this:

Just heard a short clip of Alex Newell singing On The Right Track and riffing allover the place. Hope she doesn't do too much of it on the night. It just annoys me and its as if they are showing off. Just sing it as it was written please.

I don’t know why they feel the need to do it. I’ve long suspected that it’s intended to disguise shortcomings but this person seems to have a good reputation so 🤷🏻♂️.

Well I thought this interview with Jac Yarrow was pretty excellent. We’ve not heard him speak in depth about anything beyond Joseph and thought it was brave for him to speak out about the recent Arts Ed allegations. I reckon his Pippin will be rather splendid and hope we get to see him do more challenging work going forwards: open.spotify.com/episode/6JOiVdjvT5l7ncryR7FkKz

Just listened to it and it was very interesting. He comes over really well. Sat next to him a few weeks ago at a concert and had a bit of a chat about Pippin and other things and he was really nice and genuine.

Do we know if this is likely to fall into the terrible sound, missed cues and underrehearsed category of concerts or if this is going to be one of the good ones?

Do we know if this is likely to fall into the terrible sound, missed cues and underrehearsed category of concerts or if this is going to be one of the good ones? I think its going to be a goodun! The producers have a good track record. Rehearsals have been going on for 2 weeks and a further week before that with Jac and Alex. The rehearsal clips I've seen online look very promising.

Now this is how you do a concert!
(But I really enjoyed Diana, so what do I know?!) 😉

I wouldn’t say it’s fully staged?
It’s costumed and there’s a decent amount of (variably executed) choreography, but no set.
Patricia Hodge and Zizi Strallen have both brought the house down. Jac Yarrow…less so.
Sound mostly excellent but still 5-6 missed cues.

For a concert version, it’s really pretty staged!
Cast universally excellent (including Jac Yarrow)
