Advice please. Has anyone encountered problems going to the theatre in London on a Saturdays afternoon when there is a march going on? I’m thinking of the tube system and the closing of places… thoughts and advice welcome.

I’m unsure if it’s different on Sundays, but I’ve managed to coincide with several marches during matinee trips (Teachers Strike, Pride, Climate Change etc.) and if you’re walking from Waterloo to the West End then it’s not too much of an issue.
Depending on the train you’re catching it could be a bit crowded into London, but if you’re walking it’s usually not too bad. Also the protests / marches tend to focus on Trafalgar Square and up Picadilly Circus so in other streets it shouldn’t be too bad. To be honest most times I’ve been to London recently I’ve seen a lot of people carrying signs and flags around to various places.

I’m thinking of the tube system and the closing of places… thoughts and advice welcome. I walked from Green Park station to Shaftesbury Ave when one of the big Palestine marches was passing along Piccadilly. No problems, but the walk took longer than normal, so I could have done with allowing an extra 15-20 mins. If you use Green Park station, it's normally exit-only on any days when there are big crowds, whether it's a demo or a royal event. The tube was very crowded on the way home.

I haven't had any problems walking from Kings Cross to the Royal Opera House on a couple of Saturdays when there have been marches happening, in fact apart from seeing a handful of people carrying signs post-matinee I wouldn't have even know there were marches on if I hadn't known beforehand. So I suppose it depends on which station you're coming into & which theatre you're going to.
