It's depressing how many stage adaptations of bad movies we're getting

Maybe if she was actually going to be *in it* I’d pop along out of curiosity, being unfamiliar with the film but familiar with her from growing up during her initial pop songs.
But otherwise I really don’t like this fad of plastering “star” names all over posters and promo copy when they are producing etc. It seems disingenuous at best.

I might be in the minority here - but I am very excited by this! Looking forward to hearing more (although music by Todrick worries me slightly)

Curious if they’ll add actual burlesque, something the film had none of.

Take it to New York, get Cher to do a few weeks (or whatever’s necessary) and get her the T in her EGOT.

This'll be a more fun show than a lot of crap we've had to endure in the West End - certified bangers, it'll have fierce choreography, so I'm in.

What ‘bangers’ were included in ‘Burlesque’? I seem to remember a stream of mid-tempo dirges & one lovely ballad punctuated by 1 ‘actual banger’? Perhaps if they threw some later disco Cher in there it might lift the pace to more of a trot than a steady walk?

It's only a matter of time before we have Nuns on the Run the Musical surely.

I'm more interested in seeing this than I am Hello Dolly, and it would seem ripe for a big stage production, but opening with just 2 weeks in the Opera House doesn't inspire confidence.
Maybe Stanley Tucci will have 2 of his films playing in the West End at the same time next year.
Please can we have Showgirls next please!

Showgirls or show everything was a gloriously bad film. If that was a musical where could they put the mic pack although they managed that with Mrs Henderson Presents apparently.

There wouldn't have been head mics when that began either.

30 minutes queue with 3000 people in front of me on ATG presale. Seems it's more popular than we imagined.

That in my eyes is good. Compare that to what we saw for Starlight Express yesterday too... Well of course, I received no email from ATG explaining when discounts were available. I checked three dates, all of which had no discounts, including the first performance which is when they're usually offered. That's ATG for you. £65 for Row K back for a musical that's essentially trying out in Manchester for a couple of weeks is a rip-off in my book. £75 further forward the same. Are we really judging an expensively priced, immersive production of Starlight Express in London as the benchmark for value-for-money for a new musical in Manchester that could be awful? It seems almost everything at the Palace or Opera House is priced extortionately nowadays, certainly compared to non-ATG competitors like The Lowry. Throw in the bad audience behaviour at the ATG venues and you really start to question if it's worth paying their rip-off prices. 50% off for ATG members for opening night and a top price of say £50 would have been much more like it.

For Starliight Express I went for a £29.50 seat near the back as I felt £150 for the front section was just too much but I've "happily" paid £70 for the current stalls front row of Burlesque.
Many new shows in London open for booking with eye wateringly high prices but there's often discounting, dynamic pricing and even seat filling offers later. Outside of London that doesn't seem to happen so much. For Mrs Doubtfire the headline pricing when it opened for booking in London was almost double what I had paid to see it in Manchester. So to me £70 is reasonable.
I'll be travelling from Kent to Manchester and back in a day to see Burlesque so I like to get my weekday matinee date and seat of choice secured at the earliest opportunity.
I've been to the Lowry and the Royal Exchange and can see that prices at the Palace and Opera House look high in comparison but not compared to London.

Well i got a cheap £20 ticket for back of stalls but no way was I paying the top prices they were asking. No member email for me either, I was only reminded of it when I saw a Facebook ad. Another reason I've cancelled my ATG card, it's not the value it used to be. I far prefer the Lowry or Home these days.
