I went to see this today and really enjoyed it! The dancing is absolutely incredible, what a talented cast! The dog is an added bonus too, the movements are so realistic! I wonder what the plans are beyond Plymouth, it really deserves to be seen by more people.

I wanted to come down to Plymouth to see this and combine it with a visit to family in Cornwall but the cost of train, hotel, ticket was more than a week in Spain so I'm hoping it makes it to London.

That's crazy 😱. It's good for me when these shows start in Plymouth because I live in Cornwall but it must be tricky to sell sometimes. Stalls and the circle looked full today but the upper circle wasn't open

The more I read about it the more I really want to see it. Sounds excellent and something totally different.

Something I want to know: Is the reveal that George is French revealed earlier in the show or like the film at the end

Maybe the new Sadlers Wells in Stratford which is opening later this year (although might be a bit small).

Saw this today and loved it! Definitely a dance show not a musical though.

Me too. ^ a dance show with SOME singing (not much) The production design was gorgeous, what a cast - I was blown away. Haven’t had a chance to read the reviews so I will shortly.

I didnt get to see Robbie Fairchild in An American in Paris (apart from when it was broadcast in TV) but saw him in Oklahoma for the John Wilson Proms a few years ago and he was brilliant.

It has been one of my better decisions to make the four-hour drive, which turned out to be five, down here to Plymouth, to catch the final outing of The Artist last night.
Firstly, the Theatre Royal has a lovely asymmetrical auditorium with great views from all stalls seats. As there was no interval, I didn't get the chance to explore the views from the two upper levels.
The show itself is an utter delight, and the only small detail I can nit-pick is that the opening silent movie should have been in an an academy 1.37:1 ratio and not widescreen.
The Artist is such a slick production, beautifully lit within its Art Deco framing, with scene changes executed to perfection as though part of the overall dance. As you would expect, the show is mainly about the sublime choreography, but there are also some inspired additions to the narrative compared to the movie.
The cast are great and the puppetry is well done. The absence of an interval in the near two-hour running time, just after a key character finds their voice, is a mistake.
Five stars.
One act: 19:32-21:25 (The end time includes several minutes of end-crawl credits played to pre-recorded music.)

As several posters have now confirmed this as a dance show, rather than a musical, thread moved.
