Without wanting to lower the tone Tom is most definately hot. I would very much agree with this! In fact the entire show oozes sex appeal.

Saw this yesterday afternoon and I loved it. Not much else to add to all the wonderful things already expertly said This was also my partner's first time ever seeing Sunset he also thought it was amazing.
Maybe the following can answer a few questions some may have regarding the theatre and seating for this show. . My partner booked the tickets as a surprise for my birthday he has never been to the Savoy before. I have mobility issues and walk with a stick so he did not realise there are 75 steps to the Stalls and no lifts. He also booked row V at the back of the stalls not knowing about the on stage screen but choosing that row as he could get an isle seat as he is 6'5
The theatre were very accommodating. At the door they offered to take me around to the Carting Lane entrance. I decided to walk slowly down the stairs. Leaving is no problem just a few steps up from the Stalls foyer is an exit door to the side street
Yes you do miss the top of the screen more so in the second half however not when it is really needed. I was really worried it would totally spoil the show but it certainly didn't. Would I choose these seats again for this show no I wouldn't but if this is all you can get or have already booked it's not as bad as you would expect and doesn't distract from the show.

Having loved Sunset since seeing the original cast and and returning to see all the London Norma’s and Glenn in Broadway I was somewhat disinterested in seeing a ‘scaled back’ production, in many ways the Napier set was, to me at least, a character in it’s own right. Based on the positive reviews on here I made the trip from Manchester to see the matinee on Thursday. Whilst I loved this productions inventiveness a couple of things niggled me slightly. Unlike previous members posts, I didn’t understand a lot of the choreography. Some seemed to really fit the action, at other times it just appeared to be modern dance to fill the stage, and I normally like this choreographers work. I really didn’t like the character s running around the stage towards the end - it just all felt a bit of a nonsense. I enjoyed the playful, manic portrayal of Norma, but Nicole had clearly been directed to do this odd hand gesture whenever she said a certain word, which I forget now, she raised her hand above her head with her thumb and forefinger touching, repeated a few times in a couple of scenes and just felt like a choreographed moment and didn’t feel natural or connected at all - kind of broke my belief in her character each time it happened. It was such a tiny thing to pick up on, and it irritated me that I kept noticing it. Over all though, I thought she was fantastic in the role. I’d be interest to know others thoughts on two things. The use of the red light and the meaning people derived from its use and also on the reasons for the sustained note when singing ‘home’ towards the end of ‘As If We Never Said Goodbye’ - it felt to me as though they thought ‘she can hold it, so let’s hold it’ - no real reason other than to drum up applause. My biggest take home from this production was how the camera work gave substantially more depth to the characters of Betty (I’ve never enjoyed a portrayal of this role more!), Artie and Max. All three I thought were brilliant, with the actors giving thoroughly rounded and considered performances. Tom Francis was exceptional as Joe IMHO. Once again I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to post a review on this thread. I wouldn’t have seen it had it not been for you.

Elaine Paige reviewing it on her show now. She's very enthusiastic about it! Called it a tour de force... with a little sly dig at ticket prices.

I went to see this last night and I knew nothing about it before going. Jamie Lloyd has a way of staging shows which is very unique and I loved the way he used the cameras and backstage areas. The walk around the Savoy was incredible and a total shock.
I didn't like Tom in &Juliet and thought he was miscast, but in this he was a total revelation and was brilliant. Nicole's voice is stunning and she of course got some huge cheers.
I saw it from the front row thanks to Jamie and his key worker scheme, a simply fantastic way for people to get a great seat for a cheap price.

But EP is lovely and enthusiastic about everything she talks about. She’s not going to rubbish any show when she champions all theatre! 😜 I’m hoping to get to see this at some point. It sounds amazing!

Without wanting to lower the tone Tom is most definately hot. What’s the difference between this comment and the one I was pounced on and called an implied rapist in the Next to Normal thread? My comment about Worthington-Cox if anything was more respectful than this. There is a very disturbing double standard on here. I will never stop calling out hypocrisy, it’s how change happens and people improve and become better. Where are all the people who made offensive comments to me when it’s a guy having their appearance commented on? Appalling behaviour from the hive mind. Incidentally, I have no problem with any of it within reason. Just pointing out the absolute hypocrisy when it comes to this on here. Back on topic, I managed to get a house ticket for this next month. Finally get to see what the fuss is about!

You read and liked my post in the N2N thread about our policy on complimenting performers. Perhaps remind yourself here theatreboard.co.uk/post/486412/threadNothing on this thread is problematic and indeed your post on the N2N thread was not moderated because it didn’t contravene this policy. No drama necessary, thanks.

On a different note, is Rachel Tucker the first cover Norma or would one of the two listed understudies go on if Nicole is ill? (And obviously one of the others would go on if Rachel is ill on a Monday)

Just glancing at ticket availability for Monday nights compared to other nights and it does seem that there is far more availability for non-Nicole performances

This makes sense though, as only West End fans will know who Rachel is. The majority of the public/coach parties/out of towners seeing a show will want to say they’ve seen Nicole. Even if they’ll get a better acted performance from Rachel… Plus, Monday nights. Not a big “going out” night. Here’s to Rachel getting the audiences she deserves. Just glancing at ticket availability for Monday nights compared to other nights and it does seem that there is far more availability for non-Nicole performances

Just glancing at ticket availability for Monday nights compared to other nights and it does seem that there is far more availability for non-Nicole performances This was really why I asked about if she’s the first cover for Nicole. Brilliant as I’m sure Rachel is as Norma, if the show doesn’t sell with her in it, then wouldn’t it be better financially just to run a 7-show per week schedule. Unless she is also the cover and they wanted to employ a really extraordinary level of understudy and the way to get that was to guarantee her one show a week in a role she knows she wouldn’t get offered otherwise due to her lack of fame. But I’m not a producer/money person so maybe it costs even more to have no show at all than a badly sold one, if you’ve already employed all but one of the actors and have the venue waiting. None of this is to cast any aspersions on Rachel or her obvious talent, just purely based on the fact that outside of theatre circles, nobody really knows who she is from a fame point of view.

I think Scherzinger is the one selling the show really. Even with her, the day I went there were quite a few empty seats. It was busy but not sold out.
Wouldn't surprise me if the producers were testing with the Monday performances wether or not the show could have further life with an MT performer in the lead rather than with a more famous and much more expensive star.

I don't know Rachel Tucker at all being from the US. Been looking regularly at the ticket situation. They definitely moved a lot of tickets the last 24 hours. I'm sure people are waiting to see the prices come down, especially since she's the "guest" star. On top of that, people are not buying far in advance, especially not for a Monday night.

I would love to see Rachel but living hours from London makes weekday performances difficult for me to attend. It’ll Be a real shame if she doesn’t get the audiences she deserves.
