Does she go all Yass Qween like NS? I can confirm she does snap her fingers a couple of times, yes.

I did not notice her twerking, but I did see her absolutely nailing As If We Never Said Goodbye. Oh my goodness, can she perform that song! It was a whole journey, and she did get half a standing ovation at the end of that number. Her second act overall was amazing. I feel that she was a bit more contained in the first one - while Nicole was full on from the beginning. I think Rachel is even scarier than Nicole, which is a feat. Both actresses are giving outstanding performances, and I’m very happy I got to see them both.

Twerking, can confirm, if briefly. I haven't seen this with Nicole, it was my first time tonight, so I'll look forward to some comparison. It does sound like Rachel gives a less physical performance perhaps?
I won't go on much as there's been loads of commentary on the production in general. But in terms of Rachel, I'm 90% sure she fluffed the lyrics in With One Look and got a line of spoken dialogue mixed a short while later - which I'm sure most people didn't catch as she covered well, but it made me a little anxious in most scenes for the rest of the night as I really like her and wanted her to do well! It seemed to be catching as Betty called Dark Windows Blind Windows very soon after (which I'm sure was the name previously, at least in a couple of productions I've seen).
Obviously she sang the heck out of all her songs. For the staging of sunset boulevard at the start of act 2 in the dressing room of Max he was looking at a picture of Rachel in Wicked which was glued to his mirror. Lots of Rachel fans in tonight, and it was sold out.
4 stars from me. I've seen a few productions and this certainly is a new and interesting take but I think I enjoyed the actor musician one a few years ago more overall.

Rachel’s Norma is just a dream. everything you want and more. For a first performance, I was blown away.
Her acting brings so much more depth and emotion to Norma than Nicole did (but Nicole’s works for her Norma) and the last ten minutes of the show… WOW, she was terrifying! I can’t get over how brilliant she was, it completely changed the show for me too, even though I loved it with Nicole.
I also am still just in complete awe of Tom Francis and what he’s doing with Joe.

It seemed to be catching as Betty called Dark Windows Blind Windows very soon after (which I'm sure was the name previously, at least in a couple of productions I've seen). Interesting! We had the same Blind/Dark switch at the matinee on Saturday. It's been Blind Windows in every version I've seen before, and in all the recordings, although it's actually Dark Windows in the original film - curious! She sang Blind in the song, but said Dark in the dialogue. Wonder if it's deliberate to stick with the original film words in dialogue?

Did manage to see Rachel's first show last night and thought she was super.
First night nerves did take hold in With One Look and the lyrics got in a bit of a mess (anyone who's a fan of Rachel's knows this is not an irregular occurrence - but we love her still!) but she pulled it back where it mattered, and As If We Never Said Goodbye warranted it's standing ovation - few people have got a voice like Tucker.
She plays it less "Real Housewives of Beverley Hills who's gone fully insane" and more "actress who got thrown out at 24 and is desperately trying to get back, despite knowing deep down that it's never going to happen". With Scherzinger I just thought Norma was crackers (and it works) whereas with Tucker, there's always something underlying in that... Norma knows none of this is going to work and yet she's still desperately trying to get back the life she once had - making the final scene all the more powerful as the facade falls
Once she's had another show just to get it in her body with an audience she'll be absolutely spot on, but I thought she was great.

This makes me sad that we'll never see Nicole in a Little Chef or a branch of Wilco. So damn close.

Good ear, it was another MD conducting last evening (I've seen Alan Williams all my other times), just saw the cast were having cover rehearsals today as well. I'm sure the atmosphere will be back to thrilling as always, in no time

That funeral dirge pacing is not doing Ms. Tucker any favors as it forces her to awkwardly draw out some vowels in a few places. She certainly has powerful vocals, but I was a bit underwhelmed with the interpretation.
And good heavens, the grotesque shape she gave to the word "home" in that interminable holding of it, I dunno. Perhaps the entire song sounded better in context.

BTW - since we know Nicole will definitely be done with the West End by January (have to imagine that this is gruelling) what would people think of Hannah Waddingham taking over? Surely she has the gravitas and I think she has the voice to carry on this production

There's something so magical and thrilling about witnessing this production live, that, for once, I think it's best for it to stay without a recording. For all its cinematic elements, it's a deeply theatrical experience that would lose so much if it were to be filmed.

Oh absolutely - it's so cinematic it just wouldn't work as a streaming offer.
Cast recording though? Gimme that immediately with bonus tracks of Tucker's With One Look and As If We Never Said Goodbye

Doesn't Nicole do the exact same thing with it, though? I think it's directed this way for both of the leads, is it not?
