I second the poster above - I don't understand how anyone can watch the last 10 minutes (at the very least) and not be sure that's a (deserved) Olivier nom lock.

Won the lottery!
They don't tell you where your seat is in advance. It is Box Office pickup, so I presume I'll know when I turn up.

I think she will be nominated and I think she is incredible in the show but I just can't get over Caissie's performance in Next To Normal...

Oh sure, my heart is with Levy for personal reasons with that show and she is utterly remarkable in it - I can just see Nicole being given it due to the amount of promotors and investors involved in a production on the scale of Sunset, as opposed to a producing house like the Donmar. Awards are all political anyway - they're largely meaningless these days...

Whatever anyone's view on the current production, the idea that Scherzinger's acting comes anywhere close to awards territory is ridiculous. Of course, it wouldn't be the first time a sub-par performance has received accolades, as any year's Oscars will testify. It's often about the money and who you know. With all due respect, have you seen the show? I have, and it's a fun performance, but a coherent character emerges only in the last twenty minutes or so, and it would be a pity if it won the Olivier over Caissie Levy. Surely worthy of a nomination tho

Surely worthy of a nomination tho Make no mistake, I want Caissie to win the Olivier, but as Being Alive posted above, I definitely think it’s going to be a very close race for those reasons above. I really enjoyed Nicole’s Norma, I thought she acted and sung it brilliantly. I don’t know what I was expecting, I’ve never seen much of her anywhere (somehow!) but I thought her performance was brilliant and award worthy.

(I also quoted act running times in my original posting, which would be a neat trick if I wasn't there!)

I fear they were asking for trouble doing this. It’s risky on many levels. What I find strange are reports that the audio is crystal clear every performance. Now I worked at a theatre on the Strand and I can tell you emergency vehicle sirens seemed to be going off every few minutes at times. Not least on Friday/Saturday evenings around 8:30-9pm. Nathan Amzi has said on X that both the video and audio are 100% live, which is an amazing feat. In my view they’ve had an amazing enormous run of luck avoiding sirens, drunks shouting, people pushing their way into shot (guard or no guard). The video seems more manageable by using the theatre’s bouncers, but the audio has me scratching my head a bit. Exactly my thoughts. They are either using very sophisticated mic/audio technology to clean and filter the external sound (in real time with no latency issues with a perfect 'take' each time it is done?!). Obviously there's security anyway, so if Tom has been directed to focus purely on performance, this might be possible I guess. All I know is when I left on Saturday, the Strand and Coal Hole were heaving with people and noise. Perhaps the tech team might disclose their secret to perfecting the capture of sound outdoors.

But where do we think the reviews will land on this? Personally, if we're looking at a possible comparison, I don't think this is quite as smart or thorough as Fish's Oklahoma, nor has the same consideration for characters that that had. 5s or 2s. No middle ground. Totally agree - it's marmite.

If it’s marmite- as it seems to be- I’d predict 1/2 star or 5 star reviews..

I give up predicting what critics like these days. I was convinced they would all love The Little Big Things but that was far from the truth so lord knows what they will make of this.

it will be a fun read, how the critics are going to review her- against former musical Normas, or as Nicole's own Norma? This production forces you so up close and personal with the character, her acting style fit quite well with the aesthetic language of the piece I thought

Eh, Jamie Lloyd is hardly a novelty. Plenty of them were just fine with handing out 2s for his Seagull last year and someone like van Hove who's also played around with the things Lloyd is utilizing, has had wildly fluctuating responses.

And again, as lots of people have also pointed out, MUCH of what’s on stage in this show has been done before with other shows by other directors in the past few years. This is (and it’s not a critique on him/the production) hardly anything new and groundbreaking.

Just booked a flight from Inverness to see the show in its last week in January based on the strength of the reviews on this page. So thanks A LOT.

If you hate Jamie Lloyd productions so much and definitely won’t be seeing it, why are you so fascinated in this thread may I ask? If I hated a director and had zero interest in seeing a show, the thread really wouldn’t interest me at all. Maybe that’s just me IDK 🤷🏻♂️ At least the guy who tells us every 5 mins how much he hated The Little Big Things had SEEN it. #GenuinelyCurious as the young say. Well, if I didn’t read the thread and ask questions I wouldn’t have known what the production represented, I wouldn’t know how Tucker is in the role, and I wouldn’t get a sense of the general feedback out the production. Like or not, I am entitled to my views just as much as you or anybody else. This forum isn’t an echo chamber, I would suggest if you don’t want to read my posts you can put me on ignore using the forum function available on the desktop mode of the website.

Does anyone know if they sell day seats? And if so, for how much? Just been to the box office and they said no day tickets, only the £30 TT lottery.
