But beautifully lit “of” and “the”, shrouded in dry ice, surrounded by expressive dance. Barefoot.

Christine wearing a Nike hoodie, twerking while The Phantom composes his latest masterpiece on GarageBand for the iPad, laying down those sick dubstep beats. Raoul is Raoulina, and the action has been moved to the Moon in the 23rd Century, as The Phantom and Christine travel over moon rocks to reach his lair on a Dune Buggy, stunningly portrayed here by having Go-Pros strapped to their heads.

Christine Daae having a bisexual awakening does actually sound sort of compelling. The revival actually made Piangi quite overtly gay, so perhaps it’s possible! I should add context to this - and it’s incidental to the plot so I don’t think it merits spoilering - he has lots of new “business” where he flirts with the chorus boys in “Hannibal”, etc. Back to this show; what do we think the chances of a tour are? It’d be very cheap to run with a trimmed down band, and they might do well off the buzz this production received? I guess the star would be one issue.

If I had to guess, that would be slim to none... there's no way they're going to want a cheap tour of this to take away from the buzz of this production with a Broadway announcement imminent... and Olivier awards only a few months away. Much better for it to maybe get some noms and awards, do well in the NY and then consider tours and such

Seems kind of silly... I'm not a producer or have any creative contribution to Sunset in any way, but seeing this production completely sold out for the last remaining performances is made me, I don't know if proud is the word but definitely in that family. I remember feeling that way when it opened on Broadway in 1994 and was sold out for weeks - but it never closed (original or revival) productions on those types of high notes. I was at the Closing night on broadway with Elaine Paige in 1997 which was quite an event, but it really felt like a let down and somewhat of a failure at that point. And even in 2017, as great as the revival did in NY, it didn't have this type of hype and public demand for it like this new revival. Cannot wait for it to arrive "by this time next year" here in NY... only hope a recording comes out in the interim Bonkers isn’t it! I also feel very happy to see this now sold out. Obviously majority of the credit goes to the genius of Jamie Lloyd and the talent of Nicole/Tom et al; but don’t think I’ve seen a fully sold out ALW show for over 25 years. Extraordinary. Agree re the recording. Though do have a hunch will be recorded straight after London closes but then not released until Broadway opens. Hope I’m wrong. Unless they might record it live. Don’t think they’ve been in the studio yet though as surely these days there would be a (PR orchestrated) leak on Instagram?! Along with some cryptic nonsense!

I'm glad to see this sold out knowing I've got tickets to see it next week! there's no better feeling than waltzing into a decent seat in a house you know is full, ideally walking past a returns line on your way in

I particularly enjoyed the moany young & old trouts sat behind me on Saturday night whose view my 6’4”front row frame was obscuring slightly. Young just kept going on and on about projections (that had projected at all the right times), and it must have been them that broke causing the show stop. Old couldn’t get past the fact that they had paid hundreds of pounds but their view was blocked by some peasant. 🤣

most recently they were delayed as she was trying on dresses in her room way past 7.30… it most certainly is regularly because of Ms NS. She’s even been spoken to my management and barely speaks to the cast backstage! You’ll notice they finish earlier on a Monday! This is utter nonsense. Get a life. 😂 I’m glad you feel you know more than the sources I’ve spoken to who work in the savoy, but yeah… nonsense

2 tickets for tonight listed on the notice board if anyone wants to catch this a final time. Sold out for the next two weeks, and doubt we’ll see it back here!
Great seats in Row D of the dress circle, can transfer asap
Just want what I paid for them.
Have a look and message me.
Thank you!

If either of them had asked to swap seats with us I would have considered it if they were particularly wee. Instead they just made very loud bitchy comments right up to curtain. I sat as low as I could in my seat and hope it didn’t spoil their evening. I will always be 6’4” the same as they will always be their height; knowing that, I book legroom seats asap at things I want to see not only for my own comfort, but that of those around me. The front row of the Savoy appears to be higher than the second row somehow.

This is a brilliant show that totally deserves the massive success that it's received, but honestly I find the upward dynamic pricing in the last weeks to be really disappointing and wholly non inclusive.
The pricing structure seems to be generally praised on here as the show is so successful, but really who is this benefitting? The already wealthy producers? Multi millionaires ALW and Nicole Scherzinger?
I work in the same industry and only found out that I had some time off over christmas last week, and was gutted when I seen that the show was sold out as I had hoped to see it before it closes, now that I have the time. I was hoping that I could get a last minute return ticket which is usually totally possible for any show, but every day I've noticed that they release back a few on the day for a crazy £295 regardless of the section - that is really ridiculous and I can guarantee that anyone in their 20s or even just those with bills to pay could not afford this for one night at the theatre.
For context, I seen the show in row G of the dress circle with a £40 ticket early on in the run. I know this is cheap, but to be honest I felt it was fairly priced as I felt very far back from the stage at the Savoy. I had a look this morning and they had released two tickets in the same area for £295!
Sorry if this sounds like a bit of a rant, but I feel that this kind of pricing totally reinforces the feeling that theatre is an elitist world that only the wealthy can benefit from, and I'm just so disappointed that I won't be able to see the show again before it closes because I simply can't afford it.

I do agree and I ended up paying far more than I'd like for my seat half way back in the Dress Circle last week (booked 3 weeks earlier), but it still wasn't as much as they are coming up for at the moment. (It was £95). I think if a show is subject to Dynamic Pricing, then they should warn about this on the booking page. For example. If you'd booked SB in October the booking site could say: "Please be aware that these prices may increase and may be subject to dynamic pricing". I think what slightly annoys me about it, is I just assumed the tickets would be set at the same price for the whole run and with more warning I might have booked much earlier. (I don't know if this is even possible, just my thoughts).

I get what you're saying and feel badly for you personally... but I doubt seriously the producers are making a lot of money on this. The way costs are these days, particularly in theatre (at least here in the US) if they're breaking even its a success. While theres not a massive amount in terms of costumes and sets for this, I'd imagine the camera work and video stuff costs are pretty up there, not to mention 18 piece orchestra and full cast (with NS and Rachel Tucker having to been paid pretty well too) And they were pretty generous with those discounted seats for a long time there. That they're trying to close on a high note and make back some of those costs these last performances, I can't blame them

I imagine with only a 16 week run, Sunset would either recoup or make a small profit.

I’m sorry but if someone’s left it till the end of the run to see it, I have no sympathy if all that’s left is really expensive tickets. Especially if they thought they could get a cheap ticket by leaving it so late .
Why wouldn’t they sell the handful of seats for these prices if they can? It’s been a short run and they won’t have made much profit on it, even with it being as successful as it’s been.

I work as a performer and never know my time off until the very last minute - I’ve seen this show multiple times and my ticket was never cheap, so I’m not a cheapskate who was purposefully waiting until the last minute to get a cheap ticket. I’m not going to be dishonest though and say that I don’t feel that £295 for a ticket is ludicrous, this is about a third of monthly rent for most people. I hope everyone who has a ticket for the final shows has a great time.

My father worked in the legal side of a big production company mainly film) up until retirement but he knew/knows Cameron Mackintosh quite well. Yes the guy is loaded, but this narrative that the public is charged extortionate prices, no name actors are paid minimal and people like CamMack take home all £££ is not quite true at all. It costs hundreds of thousands per week to run a show. If these producers weren’t able to pocket the millions they’ve made from their big, long running successes, there would be no money to invest (and inevitably lose in climate) in these new risky productions that we love.

Trust me, I have vast experience in how little no name performers are paid. One of the things that irks me about these increases is the fact that I know that the hugely talented ensemble who carry the show won't see any increase in how much they make form increased ticket prices, it literally only benefits the high ups. I checked the dates that I could potentially be off a few weeks ago and they were about £150 less expensive than now, but I couldn't book then because I hadn't confirmed that I could attend - it's the increases for the exact same seats that feels very shady to me. I'm slightly wishing that I had kept this to myself this afternoon, but I'm still hoping to find some way of seeing this before it closes, without having to eat pot noodles for dinner until the end of January.

Yes absolutely, sorry I wasn’t clear - ensemble members don’t get paid much especially compared to what the general public expect ‘actors’ to be paid. My point was more about how it’s not necessarily a system like with fast fashion houses(producers) and sweatshop workers (ensemble) in terms of pay and exploitation, in the way which it is often simplified to be. Production expenses are more than what meets the eye etc etc Anyway how do you intended to see the show one last time without breaking the bank??
