I'm still not sold on Nicole, she's too "obviously powerful" with no fragility, but always happy to be proven wrong. It'll be interesting to see who the understudy is, I suspect Nicole maybe won't do the matinées.

Anyone have “insider info” on a start date for this?

That's right I have the encore cd, I'd forgotten that. Although I still wish the whole thing had been recorded. Its sad Elaine never really got a big swan song role. She's unlikely to do a musical again. Drowsy flopped and Follies didn't seem to get that much attention. I saw Elaine in Follies on Broadway and she pretty much stole the show. I’m Still Here worked much better live that it did on the recording. (Not that the recording is bad!) Bernadette Peters was the ‘star’ but EP got the biggest reaction that night.

This is either going to be amazing or a disaster. There’s not going to be a midway point with this. Both are capable of making theatrical magic but also real potential for a huge misfire with this show.

It’s the Jamie Lloyd thing that’s the only thing worrying me.

I have never heard of NS. For me a star is someone who most people can recognise, specially regular theatre goers. Jamie Lloyd I know, and like sometimes. Enjoy!

For me the setting and era play so much into this show for atmosphere.
Dislike everything about this so far including the art work 🤣

I mean Jamie Lloyd is my main worry with this, but I still don't think Scherzinger is right for this at all.
Like others have said, it's going to be spectacular or a disaster, with no middle ground. Time will tell, and I will definitely be going to see.

Crikey. Just got the WhatsonStage email too. So it’s true!
I’ll be booking, but not keen on that poster. Where’s the iconic Sunset street sign gone? 😞
I’ve not had an ATG email as yet and it’s not on their website yet - where do I sign up for the presale?

When Joe sings “Christ, where am I?” it’s because he’s gone from one empty part of the stage to another.

She is very good for a pop star admittedly but like other times she's performed (coronation and phantom) it always feels like she is trying so hard to get it right for that performance, rather than it coming naturally. No really acting either is visible (could be understandable as its a concert). The good thing with the poster is it differentiates it from a regular production. They better hope she shows up every night though as its another Sheridan and Glenn situation, all promotion is resting on the star.

Oh my God, how exciting. Was very sceptical about this "rumour" but delighted to be proven wrong.
One of ALW's best scores. Queen Nicole's killer vocals. Jamie Lloyd directing*. TAKE ALL MY MONEY.
(*Very much of the opinion that nothing could ever beat the Trevor Nunn original. So after a few somewhat paler imitations, it feels IMO like a good time for something totally different).
Aspects of Love and Sunset Boulevard in the West End at the same time. Who'd have thunk! Just waiting for Starlight Express now....

Totally agree. Elaine was sensational in 'Follies' in Washington and then New York - and the audiences loved her (as they did with 'Sunset' on Broadway). Sadly, that seems to have been her theatrical swan song and, in addition, she appears to have packed away her concert touring suitcase. Her voice has now gone, at least as far as her past repertoire is concerned. She dabbled in light jazz under Jamie Cullen's direction of the Cheltenham Jazz Festival a few years back and was really impressive. Maybe she should have gone that route but I suspect she's happy putting her feet up after a 60 year career.

Not sure how I feel about a younger, sexier Norma. A re-imagining too far? (Unless she’s so washed up that she’s forced to become a hooker? ‘With one look I lose all my clothes/Just one look melts my pantyhose’?!)

I was in the audience for that performance. It was at The Fountain Studios what is now the Troubadour Theatre, home of Newsies. A miserable cold and wet winter night and they had us queueing outside in the rain for over 2 hours. When we got inside the venue was freezing so I don't have fond memories of the evening but Nicole was rather good I have to say.

Well done to the board members guessing both the star and director. I'm on the fence here as I would have preferred someone else as Norma and I'm a great fan of Jamie Lloyd. Also, as others have already mentioned, yet another "reimagining". Is this going to happen at every revival from now on? Hope not but so far since theatres have reopened it's happening all the time. Saying that I am pretty sure I will go as I love the musical but I won't be queueing up on presale day to book.

Tim, this jealousy of Andy has to stop.
