Thought this was absolutely stunning. One of the most theatrical things I have ever seen.
It’s pure 100% Jamie Lloyd. Exactly as everyone predicted. So I think this truly will be a “Marmite” show.
But I found it breathtaking.
Very easy 5 stars IMHO.

I’ll post a full review from the first preview tomorrow, but I just had to share that a star was truly born tonight in Tom Francis. The staging of the title song ‘Sunset Boulevard’ and his performance of it was one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen in a theatre. This alone is worth the ticket price and received a standing ovation. Couldn’t agree more. Absolute megastar!

If what I've heard about the staging for the title song is true, it sounds sensational and incredible. Can't wait until Saturday when I see for myself.

Oh man, I was almost relieved not to have to shell out more money for another show but now I've done a complete 180 just based on these last few comments and want to book immediately.

Looks like I’m going to have to book a ticket because of the above ^
I wonder if Theatre Board gets a commission 😅

Absolutely loved it. 4* (but mainly because I was right at the top at the back and felt very far removed from the action and emotion. Going again to see Rachel Tucker in front row so will be 5* for sure)
I did struggle ever so slightly with getting who was who without the costumes, props and set as I’ve not seen a show done like this before but after about 10 minutes I settled in.
The orchestra are amazing and the vocals hit every time. Super strong ensemble and nice for everyone to have solo moments.
Choreography was brilliant too.
What they’ve done with the screens was so clever but again, try not to sit at the top as the angle of the screen was not good or attractive (again my own fault but I just couldn’t afford the stalls or dress circle before they released the £20 seats!)
Betty and Max have gorgeous voices!
There was way too much smoke and I missed Nicole twerking so I hope they sort that out lol!
Nicole was rather wonderful actually and now I’m really excited to see Rachel Tucker as I know she’s going to be incredible.
Highly recommend if you can afford it!!!
Act 2 opening worth the ticket price alone.

Well the curtain call photos surfacing online certainly suggest this one may be divisive.

You heard me. Twerking. Wapping. Rolling around on the floor in the splits. It was brilliant and hilarious!

ATG and Jamie Lloyd can thank you personally for the money I'm about to spend.

How do they stage the title song then? I'm intrigued

I'm not going to do my usual 3 page ramble as know that only a handful of us have seen it but it really was unlike anything I've seen before. It was stunning and so inventive. Will admit I was worried at the beginning but as soon as I got old style Sunset out of my head I loved it. Orchestra sounded absolutely fantastic. Cast really good and some great singers there. Tom Francis, what a star he was outstanding. And I'm never going to take the mick out of Nicole again. She absolutely worked her ass off, sublime singing and boy can she do mad. Maybe this kind of staging has been done before I've never seen the like before with the cameras. It's going to be divisive and I'm sure there will be many an argument on here about it but I absolutely loved it and a very easy 5 stars from me.

Sorry 2 more things. Act 2 opening brilliant and if you are going to book take the extra Savoy package. Best value ever. £25 for the package, 2 cocktails, big tub of crisps, 2 programmes and 2 ice creams. Got to have been £50 worth of stuff there.

^ yup that’s exactly what happened. Really quite brilliantly done, loved it! Car chase scene was really clever too, unexpected but worked. Screens and video worked well for this production IMO. Opening (so after the sort-of prologue) and playout also made me smile a lot.

Sounds like Network then. Wonder if it’s live?

It seems like a logistical nightmare to try to do it live. The risk of extraneous noise or interruption by unsuspecting members of the public is significant.
Not to mention the risk that fans might try to get themselves into the show by hijacking the moment
Then, of course, there is the challenge of producing a consistent sound
