So back to ATG card holders - aside from nick, has anybody else received a specific ATG email targeted exclusively at cardholders? I've received bog all other than the one from Jamie Lloyd. I have had an email.

I’m still cross there’s no earlier presale than the one for those who signed up via the Sunset socials and website (which let’s face it anyone who’s interested will/should have done), but somewhat comforted by the fact there’s apparently some seats held for TC members.
Having said that, if they’re only the ££££ premium seats then that’s not hugely helpful.
Does anyone in the know have any info on likely pricing etc yet? I thought the 5,000 seats at £20 across the run for selected groups was a nice touch, but will everything else be sky high to compensate?

Did you happen to mention that they advertise the TC as offering 'priority' booking too?! I'm still tempted to call myself.

It's only a dozen years since a silent movie won just about every award going. The Artist made a lot of people more aware of the silent era, so assuming everyone young is ignorant of film history is pretty misguided. You really do overestimate the general public... [br Maybe I just don't assume that the general public is thicker than I am, and has no ability to use the internet to investigate subjects of interest.

I don’t think you need to be well versed in silent film history to understand this show. Just like you don’t need to be well versed in the nightlife scene of 1930’s Berlin to understand “Cabaret”.

Or be a Victorian to get Oliver. Or be a campanologist to get Hunchback of Notre Dame. Or be a cat to get Cats. Wait, no-one gets Cats.

Sorry, this is way too cryptic for me. I spoke to ATG a couple of hours ago - the lady I spoke to was super-helpful and said that they only receive details of priority booking shortly before the actual date and even then are sometimes sworn to secrecy. I read in to this that further information for ATG members may be shared in coming days, unless somebody in the know can share more.

...I guess the writing team were skirting mention of Norma having a voice or acting style that didn't work for talkies... I've always believed it's the latter. And Glenn's performance in 1994 totally proved it. Her Norma was perfect as a silent movie star, infinitely expressive and spot-on, and when the talkies came, she just refused to adopt the new way of acting (I believe it contradicted her nature as an actress very much) required to be believable in talkies where you don't have to be overly expressive with your gestures, mimic and posture. The way Glenn acted it made it obvious that what happened to Norma when 'talkies came' was a real personal tragedy, because her Norma truly WAS born to shine on the silver screen as a silent movie diva (and she did!) and when it became possible no more, it really destroyed a huge part of Glenn's Norma's identity. And she suddenly felt totally out of place in the world that had seemed so familiar, accepting, adoring even, through no fault of her own.

Good that your phone call was a lot more helpful than Norma's tragically misleading one: "There's been a call. What did I say! They want to see me right away. Joe, Paramount, they love our child, Mr DeMille is going wild".

Do you have to be bad to get Cinderella? Or spend 19 years in prison for stealing some bread where you’re treated as sub-human and made to do back breaking labour to understand Les Miserables Taking us a bit off topic of this particular show (apologies) but I genuinely think that during the Overture of Jesus Christ Superstar the actor playing Jesus should be heard recounting some of Jesus's teachings to his followers (Rich man, eye of the needle, etc). There's little in the main body of the piece to let us know what Jesus's values are - just a bit in 'Hosanna'. Before anyone says 'but everyone knows that' - all I can say is 'America' and 'Jacob Rees Mogg'. 'Sunset Boulevard' can work on the basis of the audience grasping the concept "they don't want me anymore, they all say I'm through, well it's time they knew" (sung by Streisand in the intro to 'With One Look' but never used on stage I believe). But if you sit next to someone who coughs twice you could miss the more specific 'talkies' angle.

Just had an e mail from LW Theatres to sign up for early access to tickets. Seeing as it's an ATG theatre seems a bit odd. Guess it's because an ALW musical. Wonder if they will have a separate allocation of tickets.

ATG NOT giving a presale to the presale to their paying members was sadly the most predictable thing about this whole production. Peak ATG I'd say!
(TBH I only pay for it for the pre-sales on their tour venues. The London benefits are pretty much non existent).

Thanks alece10 - I had that email too and assumed it would take me to the show’s website to sign up for presale, but on clicking through it did go to LW Theatres’ site and the page to sign up for ‘our’ presale. So I’ve done that too!
It also confirms tickets are from £20, although as we all know that doesn’t mean much. Typically, because the presales are on Tuesday I’ll have to book the morning off work as if I was there that’s the day of the week when I’m in meetings all morning!

So back to ATG card holders - aside from nick, has anybody else received a specific ATG email targeted exclusively at cardholders? I've received bog all other than the one from Jamie Lloyd. I only seem to get TheatreCard member emails when I don’t have an active membership (so no, I haven’t had an email about this)

No plans to extend then witn Plaza Suite now confirmed.
I wonder if Broadway is the goal if it gets well received. Open in time for the Tony's?

"Plaza Suite" has a pretty large set so this tight turnaround pretty much signals to me that "Sunset" will be on a bare stage with load-out consisting of the cast each taking their folding chair to the Uber waiting outside.

The website now says Nicole won’t be doing Monday shows starting in October. Very curious who the alternate Norma will be.

I can't decide if I want it to be someone amazing or someone I have no interest in so I don't feel the need to spend even more money.

The more I think about it I think I may skip it. This quick turn around pretty much confirms its going to be standard Jamie lloyd.
